Revision total knee replacement surgery

Hello, would like to find out if anyone has had to have revision total knee replacement surgery, and if so, what was the reason and how was the recovery as compared to the original surgery? I had my left knee replaced in July, of 2018. About two months after the surgery my knee started feeling unstable and there was a new type of pain that bothered me mostly at night in bed. My Surgeon told me that my PCL failed. It was either torn severely or it detached from the bone. Anyway, it will never heal and will only get worse so I need a posterior stabilized implant now. I will be having the revision surgery on June 20, 2019. STAY TUNED!

Hi Ron im having a revision tomorrow. I had my TKR in september 17 and looking back a think it failed after a couple of months. I had a big problem with swelling but just thought that was part of normal recovery. My surgeon seems to think i have an anaerobic infection in my Tibia which has caused it to become loose so because my bloods and aspiration of the knee have come back negative he is going to treat it as if it is an infection until he knows what it is hes treating. I'm very nervous about it, wasnt expecting to have this done until i was well into my 70s but i have no choice but to have it done . good luck with your revision x

Thanks for the reply. Hope your revision recovery is speedy with no complications. Please update occasionally and keep me posted how you're recovery is coming along. Will remember you in my prayers. Also, I was thinking the same thing when I had my left knee replaced last year. I was 56 and thought I wouldn't have to go through this again until I hit my 70's or 80's. I had my right knee replaced when I was 56 and it's never bothered me, and works perfectly. Guess I should be thankful I didn't gave problems with it, and I am, very thankful. Best wishes to you for complete healing and zero infection.
