Rezum

I'm getting conflicting info from my uro. He says that there's a likely chance that the Rezum procedure will effect prostate function, which is contrary to what I've read online. Any help would be appreciated.

Steve,
Don't know what he means by "affect prostate function". Not sure where you are but with Rezum, as with all procedures, operator skill and experience are really important. A lot of docs out there have done a few procedures. I wanted one who does several a week.
In 2019, I found Dr. Kevin McVary at Loyola University in Chicago. He was one of the Principal Investigators when Rezum was in clinical trials and had done 300 of the procedures at that point. I went from not being able to urinate at all (using catheters 6 times a day) to being able to urinate pretty successfully almost all the time. It does take a while to heal, but I still have as much sexual function as when I started and am not incontinent. Don't know why your doc would say that about Rezum--- maybe doesn't know much about it or maybe prefers whatever procedure his office is used to doing. I recommend checking out Rezum; it worked for me. You can pm me for contact info for Dr. McVary if you need it.
