REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????

I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM". The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc". You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up. I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now. I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday. As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens. Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them. It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue. My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

Hello All-
I chose "Reum" because my anatomy would not support Urolift. I had it done 5/16/18. Only a little more than 3 weeks out and seems like a total cure at least for me. No more problems with urination at night or daily.
There are still small amounts of blood still present in the urine and some small pains noticed. Make no mistake, this was a very painful procedure, but for me it seems to have been worth it. My prostate seems to "itch" at times. I take this to mean it is still healing. Originally the prostate measured 81g. This was on the high end for the procedure. But all' worked out well. Still have two more appts for followup. Also have been able to completely get off Flomax.

Good to hear Rezum is working for you, especially this early out. It can only get better from here. Did you have any ED, RE, or incontinence ? What anesthetic did the doctor use ? When you say your anatomy would not support Urolift, was it enlarged median lobe ? Can I ask where you had it done?

Joe,
Glad to know it went well for you!
l had my REZUM procedure 5/24/2018 and won't know results until Foley catheter is removed on 6/8/18. Mine was not painfull, nothing more than a bee sting but I had a small prostate. I have a very large bladder and was in full retention for 15 months. Hope my results are as good as yours.
Best Wishes
Al

Good evening Joe and Allen. I am happy the Rezume worked for you. Being said the Rezum is not for everyone and you have to pick what you think will work for you. Just like some men find it pain fell and some don't. I hope your healing gets better and better has time goes on. Please put update for us on the site for others to see. Take care Ken

2 shots on each side and 1 in the right side of the median lobe for a total of 5 shots. Don't know size of median lobe. I previously reported that prostate was 23g, my history report states 22g that was tested 6 or 7 months ago.

No I was wide awake. The Dr shot the prostrate with a local first. I can say that this doesn’t work that well. I took one 3.5 mg oxycodone tab beforehand. I also took one Valium. Still VERY painful procedure. Then 5 days of a very irritating catheter! BUT I’d still do it again. End result.... it worked

I got Rezum done in Indiana. Urology of Indiana to be specific. I do have the median lobe. He seems to have gotten that also. There were 9 injections of steam. In 65 years I’ve never been thru so much pain. Only lasted 15 minutes however. It’s a relatively safe procedure even if it doesn’t work perfectly. I would recommend it to anyone needing help.
Thanks, Joe

I was evaluated by 2 physicians beforehand. Both said it would work but recommended the green lazer instead. I chose this because it is not COMPLETELY destructive. You’re right, not everyone’s anatomy will be responsive to the procedure. Best to check this out with the surgeon carefully first.
Good luck, Joe

I didn’t have ED or incontinence before the Rezum. I did have RE but I believe it was due to the meds. I originally requested urology but was told the median lobe was to large. Just wouldn’t work. It was either Rezum or green Lazer. The only anastesia I had was 3.5 mg of oxycodone and one Valium. There was a local given but this doesn’t work that great at all. Mine was done at Urology of Indiana in Carmel, Indiana.
Good luck, Joe
