REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????
Posted , 385 users are following.
I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM". The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc". You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up. I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now. I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday. As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens. Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them. It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue. My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

Hi Chuck i had the steam therapy done on june 18 2018 and on the same day they had to take the cath. Out of me my body, my body couldn't tolerate it. Since then 7 days later I started to per every 2 to 4hrs. Now all on a sudden on the 8th day it's back to every hr. Im peeing . Like 23 times a day.

Disregard my question about when the procedure was done - I didn't see this post. Sounds like you might have a UTI. You should get checked for it. If not, you need an overactive bladder med for about a month.

It will - takes 2-3 days. If you're off any catheter then this should be the only UTI you'll get.
Here's a quick synopsis of what to expect:
Urgency from about week 2 til week 6. It will subside gradually
Blood in the urine weeks 3-5. Its no problem and will go away. If you end up peeing scabs, call you doc, but that'r rare.
Improvement starts at 30 days, but the most change happens weeks 6-12. After 6 months, you've gotten as good as you're going to get.
For many, week 6 is when things start to really feel better.
Good luck and keep us posted as to how you're doing.

I agree that you should not argue with or tell the Dr. what to do while you are 'on the table'. If you don't trust the Dr. to do what is necessary to fix your personal prostate problem based on their experiences and training, then you should not be on the table in the first place with that Dr.
Rezum steam only kills cells in a 2 cm area around the injection point. Which explains why the bigger the prostate, the more steam injections are necessary to remove the prostate urethra blockage.
Let us know you Thursday results.
Had Rezum done and just got the catheter out Monday, all good so far, slow flow and volume but improving daily. My full report coming soon.
Best wishes,
Allen

I don't know where u got your info drom. But I never said anything about arguing with the Dr on the table. And I had my surgery on a monday at 1.15pm and 6 hrs later app. I was in the hospital they had to remove my cath. I was peeing around it. My body was rejecting the cath. And I per more times now at night than I did before the surgery. So the surgery made it worst for me.

Allen I hope your Rezum works for you. Your doctor only did 5 injection. But if you do not want any of the side effect and if your concerned with retro you should be told how many he is going to put in and were. With all the test that you have they all ready know the size. I know the median lobe is a problem and I have no problem with what your doctor did to you. 2 on each side and 1 in the median lobe. You have a chance. But doctor's are doing a overkill with the injection I think 10 and 12 are to much for the body. There has been 5 men that I know of that doctor's did it and it did not work. It did so much damage that they had to have a Turp to clean up the mess. Which they did not want in the first please. I have had my urologist for 4 years and I love and trust him but with all the stuff I may be going through. He can suggest what he feel is right but I have the final say what is going to be done. It is my body not his and if it is going to cause me any side effects I will not do it. There is all way another way. That is also my doctor way he will do anything for his patient to make them happy. We are all different and we all have the right to agree with the treatment that we are going to have. Not go into anything blind. I like to know before hand everything that will be done. That is all I agree to nothing else. God bless you all and good luck. Hope all works out Ken .

I just had mine on July 29. Also had 2 on each side and one in median lobe, so 5 total. I already had a suprapubic, so catheter is what it is and will stay in at least a few weeks. Will be two weeks tomorrow. So far no real change. Can pee some on my own sometimes, especially with meds still, but some times have to rely on the cath to empty (I use a plug). It's about the same as it was before the procedure...so far anyway. Fingers crossed!

Good luck my friend. Was that June 29. That procedure takes time to know if it really works. I hope your not in to much pain. You have a caring doctor. Will you be able to have the suprapubic catheter out if it works. I'm with you cross everything you can. God Bless Ken

Scott - you won't see any benefit for at least 30 days and most of the improvement will happen in weeks 6-12. I had the same 5 sprays you did and got worse for awhile (couldn't pee at all) for close to a month, but by 6 weeks was better than before.

Sinford. I think that was me that started the problem. I just feel that you have the right to know how many injection the doctor is going to put in before he does it. He all ready know how big your prostate is and it should be talked about before your on the table. And if you agree find but it should be talk about and not go into it blind It's not a matter of trust. I trust my doctor to do what he feel is best for me but I do not give him total control you do only what you tell me nothing else. There was a man on this sire a few your ago. He had a stricture. He had to have a end to end urethroplasty. The doctor told him that it was not bad and that he would not have to take more then a inch. Well when the guy woke up the doctor told him that it was worst then he thought He remove 3 in from his urethra It made a problem with his sex life and his wife left him. I'm sorry but that should not have be the doctors decision He should have been woke up and he should have been told before it was not. We do what we have to but we should have all the faxs Have a good day Ken

Here you can reply either to the original poster or to any poster in the thread. In either case, all the posts are public but I agree it's a mess and can be very hard to navigate. I usually just go by my email alerts but you can miss a lot of posts that way. That said, still a great forum for information.
