REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????

I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM".  The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc".  You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up.  I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now.  I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday.  As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens.  Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them.  It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue.  My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

I had the Rezum procedure last Wednesday, the 4th of May.

I had the catheter removed yesterday and I feel great.

The catheter was a pain to live with for those 5 days, mainly at night.

There's just a little burn while p*ssing, but easy to tolerate.

The procedure was painful, but very quick and over.

Too soon to know it's effects, but I'm optomistic.

I'm 62 and in otherwise good health.

Don't know what else to say.

Well, it has been 4 weeks since my Rezum procedure.  Not any better than before.

Still hoping for improvement.  Going to doc for second follow-up visit.

Well I went yesterday for my 3 month evaluation.  The nurse came in and said we need to do a flow test.  She said as soon as you finish the flow test, fill out the top sheet.  So, I did the flow test and then completed the form and sat down after opening the door so she would know that I had finished.  She came in to get the results and ask me "What happened to the bucket at the other end of the cone?"  She forgot to put it there and I didn't notice since the cone is fairly big and hiding the bucket that the measurement is taken in.  Needless to say, what a mess.  Anyway, I'm happy with my Rezum procedure and will be going back in 3 months for a follow up visit.  Also, a piece of my prostate came out while I was urinating recently.  For me, the Rezum procedure has value.

it's been close to 8 weeks for me and I'm still struggling. Definitely better, but not as good as before I went in. Doc says most of the improvement is in weeks 8-12, but coming around to the idea that back to where I was over a period of another month or two is where I'll probably end up. Lots of toruble for nothing is the likely outcome I fear.

Hi "OldBuzzard"; At this point all I can say is "Iam very sorry".  I probably will not do the "Rezum Procedure".  Don't know if I even told you but Iam scheduled on the 19th of May to go in and get a "RE-DO" of the Urolift or as one guy said a Urolift Part Deux.  My one implant has moved ( I have a total of 4) and my Doc is going to put in 2 more for a total of 6 implants.  I'll probably set off all kinds of bells and whistles at the Airport- ha ha.  Anyway, thats what Iam doing and we'll see how it goes.  Or maybe I should say "we'll see how it FLOWS".  HA HA again.  Take Care and Keep in touch.

Given what I knew it made sense for me. The problems I had were not typical and I was (still am) sick of designing my life around my pee problems. If I'm not any worse off in the end it was just an incovenience and expense. Maybe over time it will end up better. Good luck with the Urolift - I hope it fixes things!

My doc said any improvement will occur within 3 months.  Here's hoping and praying.

Mine said that too - but said that most of the improvement will happen in the last 6 weeks

Well, I had my 4 week check-up yesterday(12 May).  My doctor congratulated me for being his worst patient to date.  It's like, how is it going bubba?  So far, no good.  Still time to get better.  I'll be going back in 2 months(basically the end of the 3 month period to see improvement).

I have the same honor with my doc - and I needed the cath for weeks. I'm at 8 weeks now, still have some pain when peeing, seeing some improvement finally but I've seen that before only to see it reverse - if not competely, mostly. We'll see how the last 4 weeks change my outlook.

Thank You for checking back in.  Its a shame that in life we have to go thru all this pain and agony isn't it.  Keep the faith.
