REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????
Posted , 385 users are following.
I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM". The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc". You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up. I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now. I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday. As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens. Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them. It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue. My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

John,
In case Leon doesn't answer, I'll jump in here for him. He had the Rezum procedure. His situation is one of the worst that I've read about. However, we have to keep in mind that it takes some guys longer than others for the prostate tissue to be removed by the body's lymph system. I'm hoping that, by now, a couple of months after the procedure, that he's doing better.

He suggested turp I said no way
He suggested laser surgery
I agreed but I have changed my mind. Getting another opinion on Uris lift. At the end of the month... we will see what happens..

there's this clinic in Gilbert Arizona called Sunrise Urology I think. There's a ton of patient testimonials on YouTube and every patient is over the moon about their experience with urolift. if I have to do something again I'll probably start with that since I'm relatively young. Under 60

Don't mean to butt in... have you considered a HoLep? Expensive, but with your problems... might be a good option, especially IF insurance will cover... and after a failed procedure... maybe they would. GL to you!

Look it up here and elsewhere... I can't post a link, it will be deleted. It is a very complex procedure, but I have read more good things about it than any other procedure... I think it DOES cause full retrograde ejaculation... but if you are really messed up, that may be no biggie. Make sure you get an experienced Doc to do it... lucky to have two here in Tucson... Dr. Wright and one other even more experienced... GL!!

To All,
To troubleshoot the problem of patient.info emails not arriving in my Comcast inbox, I temporarily reset my email address for patient.info to my very old Yahoo account. For testing purposes, can you please post a few comments on this forum so I can see if I get any emails from patient.info in my Yahoo inbox. You could just write "Hi Steve". I will set patient.info back to my Comcast account later tonight.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Ken,
Thanks, I got your message.
The test worked like a charm and I got the email from patient.info on my Yahoo account proving that the problem is with Comcast and not patient.info. Right now, I am one the phone with Comcast. I suspect that Comcast is blocking patient.info now because they caught some "dirty" keywords in one of our posts, given the medical subject matter that we discuss here.
Maybe we need clean things up a bit
Steve

I am from the UK. Can anyone please tell me how much it costs to have the Rezum Water Vapour treatment for an enlarged prostate? I have no health insurance. The UK has a National Health Insurance system that we pay for in our taxes. My urologist in the UK doen't know about this procedure which seems excellent. I am prepared to come to the US for treatment.
Thank you for your help.

According to Prostate.net, TURP and Green Light ($5,099) were slightly more effective at symptom relief when compared with Rezum, and both cost about twice as much as Rezum ($2,582)

Thanks for the info. That's not a bad price. Have to start saving my pennies. How did it go for you?

You should start a new discussion asking if anyone knows a doctor who performs Rezum in the UK. It seems like I read somewhere it was approved by the NHS in the UK.

Just in the past 3 weeks I have been researching cost of Rezum here in the Washington State area of the US. I was disappointed to find $6000 or more the going price here. Then I complained because I am on social security and no medicare (not 65 yrs old yet) and do not have insurance. I got a call from Swedish Hospital Urology here stating they have a "private pay" price of $3000. I was considering paying cash... but now hearing way too large a percentage of bad experiences with Rezum. A urologist suggested last week that I just wait it out until I am 65... if possible. I might. Thats less than 3 years out.
