REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????

Posted , 385 users are following.

I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM".  The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc".  You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up.  I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now.  I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday.  As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens.  Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them.  It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue.  My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

I have had nothing done about my BHP so I heard there is a surgery that is more like an operation on the prostrate but the drs cut you instead of going in though penis . does anyone know what I thinking off

Yes, Simple Robotic Prostatectomy . Ask "DaveCanPee" about it as he had that done. It's basically done for huge prostates.

      @Lvscott :Yes, Simple Robotic Prostatectomy

From the description of Simple Robotic Prostatectomy, this appears to be a procedure for very large prostates. It is more invasive and with the same complications of TURP. So unless your prostate is so large that it requires a Simple Robotic Prostatectomy, there are other less invasive procedures available with less complications.

so I am about 50 days post rezum. I am starting to feel some improvement and my stream is getting stronger. I am still getting up at night to go to the bathroom however. Do you all have any opinions about bladder training? Such as trying to hold my urine for longer periods of time during the day and training the bladder so it doesn't have to avoid so often at night. Thanks

      John,

I am inclined to say that "trying to hold my urine for longer periods of time during the day and training the bladder so it doesn't have to avoid so often at night" is probably not a good idea, if retention and bladder damage was part of your equation that lead to your need for surgery. If retention and bladder damage was not part of the equation for you, then "holding" may be OK. Did you discuss this strategy with a urologist?

last week he said the rezum procedure did nothing for me?? The question is why??

So I'm not a person who will ever say Rezum works!!!!!

I am two years post Rezum and see some weakening of my stream, especially just after getting up. Up at night about three times a week. So, it worked for me. No impact on ejaculation.

For me it was about six weeks. He did a number of locations. I can't remember the exact number, but his comment was "more than usual." About six months ago I noticed the stream began to weaken . Still -- would do it again if needed.

I'm a little confused... you think a weakening stream is a GOOD thing? And if not... why would you do another rezum? Why not try something else?

      Hey Buddy

I did not understand what Stuart was saying. First I assume he had the procedure 6 weeks ago. But 6 month's ago his stream was weak. That was before the procedure I guess.

He is going to have to give it some time. What ever injection he did. I hope his doctor did not over dew them.He will have to give the steam time to melt the tissues.

Only time will tell with any procedure...................Ken

It is in two messages. Procedure was two years ago. Stream weakening first noticed six months ago In my recovery did not have to self cath -- cath came out at a week and other than some minimal blood, all was good.

So your procedure is starting to fail. What does the doctor say about it.

You do know that you can have a Urolift done after the Rezum. I just ask my doctor about that for one of the other guys. He said that it is no problem you just have to fine out why it failed.

      Do find out way.........Ken

      Hey, Pal,

Yes, his procedure is failing... sorry to hear it... great that he may be able to do a UroLift next time instead of trying a repeat of the procedure that failed... I bet he has the option of a HoLep too, if he doesn't mind retro ejac... that is the one I think I'll do when I am mid 70's or more (if I last that long!) when retro is no biggie...

Maybe lots of guys have had success with the rezum... but I sure don't see many pos comments here... seems more success with even the green light... but don't tell snarky Steven, he will spit like a cat! 😃

      Good Morning

Yes that is another procedure that he can try. It is up to him. We are all on here to give our opinions which have helped us. But we are all different and we all have different concerns.

To me retro is still a biggie.

At 63 I still enjoy that feeling and I am not giving it up. Had retro years ago. It sucked I even have decided that if I get cancer if they can not do something that will still guarantee my ejaculation I will only do watchful waiting. ( I know this is a little personnel but I have good days and bad. Some days I can't and others I can come up to 4 times and each one is better then the last )

I do not have prostate cancer in my family. My father died at 82 from liver cancer never had a problem with his prostate. My brother is 75 just started on a pills his PSA is 2.2. Doctor told him that his prostate is just a little bigger

Each man should not give up on his body. We have enough procedures out there for us to pick from. You have to do your pros and cons of what you can deal with. And if your doctor does not explain everything and take your concerns at heart move on and try another.

We as men have it very hard. We have to deal with a lot of stress. We are mostly the bread winner to take care of our family's That is a lot of stress. Between working family and all the other stuff as we get older we end up with other thing to deal with.

That is why I say we should not have to deal with given things up just to pee better. I could go on but I think that is enough for now.

Men will do what they have to when the time come. Have a great day .............. Ken
