Rezum or Laser?

Hi,

I have a very vascularised and friable prostateprostate which bleeds resulting in blood in the urine and substantial blood in the semen.

I am 58 years old. My prostate is not large (30 cc), PSA 0.7, and do not have any major urinary issues.

Over the past few years have been on medication, had two cystoscopies, had MRI, blood tests, numerous scans and two PAE's. The second PAE had an effect for approx 18 months but vessels had grown back to feed the prostrate. Recently i have used some herbs such as collinsonia and horsechestnut that have reduced the bleeding but the amount of blood is still significant and I surgical intervention will be required. I have been to two different urologists one advising rezum the other laser.

Neither guarantees that the bleeding issue will be resolved permanently. So it seems I am left with these two alternatives. Any comments, suggestions, advice would be appreciated.

Your bleeding issue may not be related to your prostate problems. Are you on any blood thinners or on any blood thinning diet or supplements ? You might try some blood clotting foods or supplements.

I am not on any blood thinners. When the ufologist did the cystoscopy he said that he only had to touch the prostate and it began to bleed.

Interesting, I had bleeding issues for ~ 1 year. I peed pretty much pure blood at the beginning. Uros never determined what caused my bleeding but were gun ho to do a procedure. I decided to go the wait and see route which worked out well for me. I have been on finasteride for 3 years. My theory is that is the finasteride shrunk my prostate and the leaky blood vessels. I guess never know for sure.

Thats good news. What were the side effects of finasteride? I was on duodart previously for about 6 months but had no benefit.

Question: What was the purpose of the PAEs if your prostate is that small? Also, I cant see how Rezum would fix a bleeding issue. Maybe another Uro opinion or two?

The PAE was done to cut off the blood supply to the prostate. Logic being if there is no supply of blood then the prostate would not bleed. It worked for about 18 months but then thr bleeding gradually returned due to the body naturally trying to overcome the obstruction and new blood vessels growing to re-feed the prostate.
