Rezum with or without a Prostate Block

Help????? I have the Rezum procedure scheduled in a few weeks and my Urologist seems to be skiddish on the idea of using a Prostate Block. But, if I'm firm about using it, I suspect he will do so. In reading all of your very helpful posts, I get the feeling that some of you had a prostate block and others say they did not. This is confusing. If you had the Rezum procedure can I please hear back from you on what kind of  anesthetic your Doctor used and more importantly what you would recommend. Thanks you so much - reading your posts has been exceptionally valuable to us who are following you. Your kind of paving the way for us with this rather newish procedure. We appreciate it.

Ron I hope you have some kind of anesthetic.  I just read a post from Ken 19524.  He just had it done and his doctor put him out for it.  He had 10 steam injection.  I don't think any man should have to go through that type of pain  Good luck  Ken

Hank, it's basically and injection which numbs the Prostate - kinda like novacane from the dentist.

I had the Rezum procedure in May 2017 with a prostate block. I had seven injections, most of which were still painful, but tolerable.

I think the prostate block is preferable to general anesthesia because it poses less risk to your overall health.

If you choose to stay awake and go with the prostate block, take two tennis balls to squeeze during the procedure to help manage the pain. I squeezed a small urine container (I wasn't smart enough to bring tennis balls with me) and this really helped me to remain still during the steam injections.

    Good luck!
