RF and CCP 250

Hello, I just had my bloodwork come back and my RF is at 28 and CCP is at 250. That being said I am scheduling a visit to a rheumatologist. My question is why do I not have any pain or swelling? I cannot find any info on RA without pain or symptoms. The only time I swell is when i have too much alcohol or eat something with MSG in it. Am I missing something big here? I have been reading story after story of peopel in horrendous pain leading to their diagnosis. Mine was an accidental finding. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Wow!  You are lucky because RA is extremely painfull.  We have swollen joints and can hardly move.  So I guess consider yourself lucky.  Hopefully it will stay this way.

Hello Cindy52759, yes I am beyond grateful. i just think it is weird that I have no symptoms. Maybe because It is still early stages. I did get a posotive RF last October and then retetsed in january and it was negative, now I have RF of 28 and CCP of 250. Iam prone to swelling or edema in my hands and feet and I have had some soreness in my pinky finger that lasted weeks but I was also doing tons of push-ups, burpess and planks that's what prompted me to go see a doctor in the first place. I have yet to see a Rheumatologist as they are backed up for 3-4 months. Is it urgent that I get into see one asap wth no symptoms?

I would get in as soon as you can so that they can start you on something. You don't want your joints to deteriorate.  I hope you continue to stay pain free.

Yes i agree. The wait time is 3-4 months. Im trying to get in anywhere i can. I will pray that when i get my scans there is no damage yet.

Good Luck!  RA is different for everyone.  Went to lunch yesterday with a friend of mine who has it, she is in no pain but has huge nodes on fingers and elbow.  Who knows, strange disease.

It sounds strange and widely varying. Do all people get deformities from ra? Im still hoping the specialist will give me good news as to joint damage. Do all people offically diagnosed need to take medications for ra? I think i will be flying overseas in a few weeks to get to a specialist i can see asap as its a private hospital. I live in Thailand and just happen to be back in the States for a holiday when these blood tests were done. Im moving my leaving date up as this is too important to wait. Cannot believe this is not considered urgent for a referral to see specialist.

Not everyone with RA has pain.   Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones is an example.   Look at his fingers and yet he suffers no pain...

undwr what circumstances that a RA sufferer needs to be scanned? I've had it for about 6 months now but my doc never scan me. Only regular blood tests and medication.

Hi sia. Yes thats why i am going mental; i have no pain at all but my blood work says om positive from my rf and ccp , which is over 250. I guess this is early stages?? I have had swelling in hands n feet but not even that bad. Edema runs in the family, give it a few days and im fine. I do get tingling in my hands anns feet and all over my body, lips n tongue included. I am prone to anxiety and have tossed it up to adrenal rushes because those are crazy and can make you feel like your own skin is alien. I need to see a specialist asap to get joint scans to see if i have jojnt damaage for a proper diagnosis.

Yes don't wait . Do what you need asap get scanned and get more tests . My RF was 283 and my CCP was 300. I know a friend who has RA but she never let the reading affects her . As long as she is not in much pain she thinks she is in remission . I'm learning from her too. You could be one of the lucky one who no pain . Stay positive !

Yes sia! Thank you for the nice and encouraging post!! I am flying to Thailand to see a USA trained doctor on 2 weeks because I refuse to wait 3-4 months to see a specialist. I pray for each and everyone of you that live with pain.

You never hear of pain free RA, probably because if it is pain free you don't really have anything to complain about, aside from mishapen joints!

That would be amazing to say the least. Doctor seems to think its early stages so could develop pain later. The bloodwork reveals I have a strong positive for ccp and am rf positive. Could I still not have RA with those results??? I definitely have mild swelling in hands at times and the tingling but thats it. Scans will reveal more.
