I am amazed. All your records should be on computer in this day and age! What hospital are you with?

      hi sherry.

ERM..not sure if I can name hospital, but it's the Staffordshire area,if that means anything.not happened before, just couldn't believe what I was hearing.walked out as though I'd dreamt it.

Oh I am all for naming and shaming. But I understand. I am in London so don't know your area. I hope they sort out their blunder. If it had been my hospital I would have let everyone know who they were!

normally I'd totally agree, but new to the game and not sure what can and can't do yet,so trying be careful.they didn't send me away, they did ask me go back.think they were as embarrassed as I was dumbstruck.just wondered if it happened to anyone else.to be honest, cant wait for next week.

      keep you posted.

Had happened to me. The dr kept the records hand written and probably filed me under a diff name. Didn't tell to go away, though....

Yes happens all the time, for my husband with heart failure much more serious.

I have serious arthirits problem, so I dooo understand where you are coming from.

KEEP a mirror copy of everything, all your tests, all your GP's notes, all your hospital appt letters, all you specialist hospital vists reports back to your GP, start by asking nicely and explain about missing files as the reason you started, and then if you still get the brick wall demand loudly, and stand your ground. I had to hound the hospital earlier this year after husbands echo, no report forthcoming to our GP, who is only too willing to give me a copy.

Got GP to write a letter enclosing copy of appt letter requesting results, a month later still nothing, so I rang the hospital, to get you had no appt, on the 15th Jan, I styill had my letters, so sent them through to hospital, with a rather sharp note attached to senior consultant cardiologist expressing my dis-pleasure at lack of report to GP, Husband collapsed a few days later, and I know there were certain junior staff who were on the mat, showed the consultant my copies of letters, phone calls, and all the efforts I had made to get correct info after even I recognised there was something that wasn't right, lack of reports delayed his treatment I believe.

I keep on old computer bag with all this information, and take it with me each and every appt at the hospital specialist dept. Dr's have ended up photo copying my files for their records as my files have the correct information, nothing mis-filed in my system, and no fobbing off, I just pull up my bag, and say what would you like. ECG, Echo's, x-rays, MRU scans, recent letters.

I am just pedantic enough to have folders within the bag for each, and or envelopes for other reports.

You shouldn't need to do all that! Name the hospital! That's the only way to shame them. You may find others who use that hospital and you can complain together. I would definitely contact PAL and lodge a complaint. Someone could die if nothing

      Is done! Name the hospital!
