Rheumatoid Arthirtis

I have had RA for the past 6 years. It started out with some swelling and mild pain in my middle finger of one hand. I was put on NSAID for a while.  The pain disappeared but the sweling got worse so  I have been taking  Methotrexate 25 mg and Plaquenil for the past 2 years. I still do not have paing but my joints (now middle fingers on both hands) are swollen and now there some mild deformity.  I have an appointment  with my doctor next week and I am wondering if I should ask for a stronger medication. Can you have swelling and deformity without havng pain?

Is there anyone who has had the same experience? what will stop the deformity?

I also have osteoporosis in my lower spine. I wander if the RA has just been in my body for so long undiagnosed that its gonna take a big kick in the tail to stop it? Has it done so much damage to my body and immune system that the small trials aren't enough? I take cymbalta and amitriptylene for depression and my specialist also has me on pain patches, muscle relaxers and mobic. Its no secret where the fatigue comes from

      Hi Janet

i m jumping into the conversation a bit late, but reading through the posts I m wondering why more isn't being done for your RA? I have been prescribed Adcal ( calcium and bit D) to guard against osteoporosis as a result of RA. You might be right about RA longer there than thought.
