Rheumatoid factor levels

Posted , 1 user is following.

I just recieved a letter from my doctor staiting that my Rheumatoid Factor level was 224 units and anti-ccp was 253 units. He said these were very high and to take the prescribed  Methotrexate Immediately, Does any know how high these levels really are? Should I blow off the Meds again?

It's very high. Take the MTX.

Why? If you don't you joint damage [which is already happening] will occur. It is NOT reversible. The MTX will prevent future joint damage.

Didn't your doctor educate you on this disease?

      Hi Lynn,

I'm friustrated with them they did surgery to remove a suppossed ganglion cyst well it grew back twice as big in 3 months. There were RA nodules. I should have stayed and got my treatment at Dana Faber cancer institute in Boston. I also have hemochromatosis and I think that's whats effecting the readings. I do have something eating through a bone in my hand but not cancer. Just sick of all BS & surgeries and spinal injections. Cancer runs rampid in my family and taking a cancer  drug like metho... increases my chances as I obviously it's in the genes and no-one makes it to age 70 on both sides of the family and I'm 53. I can deal with the paIn it's just REALLY bad in my right hand. I don't have the normal right side has it so the left side does not me. I figured i've broken my hand and destryed my hands boxing so that's the reason. Yeah i've seen 4 doctors hoping for just one to say i don't need it. (I guess the RA factors are Really high???

    Charlie....

You need a DMARD such as MTX,

I suspect you aren't aware that MTX is  drug to FIGHT cancer [though cancer patients take much higher doses]. MTX  isn't going to cause cancer.

If you don't want the MTX, get on a biologic. But you need to do one or the other now. No waiting.

    Get a great rheumaologist.

      Thank you cA Lynn

I started the metho Wednesday night before leaving Aruba on Thursday. I felt terrible on the plane home yesterday and worse today but I'm on a bunch of other meds and will give it some time before calling doc. Thank you!

Aruba is a wonderful place to clear the head and get perspective.
