RHS pain, Pancreatitis, Gallbladder or something else?

Hello all, I wonder if anyone can help shed any light on my pain. I've had an achey pain in my right side for the last 2 years, if I stick 2 fingers in my right side right under the bottom rib that's where the pain is, very specific and in that area, occasional I get an ache in between my breastbone and occasional stomach ache, sometimes severe. I've drunk heavily for the last 20 years but cut right down in the last year or so, (I'm overweight 16 stone and 5 foot 10 male) the pain sometimes radiates to my back, some days it's there other days it clears up, if I drink too much it flares up but spicy food or fat doesn't seem to make it worse or better nor does normal drinking on occasion. I had an ultrasound done last year, which came back normal, liver tests have been normal, kidney tests ok and I've been tested for H Pylori and that came back clear. Last week I had a Gastroscopy and that came back clear, I do suffer with excess acid, the doc put me on Lansaprozole but that hasn't helped the pain and as I had to stop taking them for a fortnight before the Gastroscopy and I didn't feel any difference and the acid didn't get any worse I've stopped taking them. I'm going back to the Doc's this week to see about further tests, does this sound like Pancreatitis or gall bladder, oh, I do have loose stools and go to the toilet at least a couple of times a day, sometimes more. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I have GERD and believe me it can cause all kinds of pain.  I have had chest pains, shoulder blade pains, stomach pains and gas pains and my gastro doc said all of it is acid reflux!  I would say try a bland diet and no alcohol for a while and see if it helps. Ask the doc to try a different pill for the acid.  I used to take Nexium but it stopped working so I now take Dexilant     Good luck and God Bless

Thanks for all the reply's folks, I can't seem to find any information on the internet that I think "Yes, that's exactly what I have", I seem to have bit's of different symptoms, nothing I can put my finger on. One doc did seem quite adamant it was GERD, I'll tell him the Lansoprozole didn't do anything WildJ, thanks for that. It looks like there's going to be no quick diagnosis judging by your posts, unless I get lucky, I've read numerous posts on the internet which say people have had similar pain to mine and had all sorts of tests but they've come back clear. You're right Theresaa, you don't get any information, that's why I've been trawling the net for answers, this place is by far the most helpful. Non of my blood tests mention amilyse and lipase Joblack, I'll metion it to the doc to see if he could test that too. Again, thanks for your answers everyone.

My husband also gets lower abdominal pain. Dont know anything about amilyse and lipase. When I asked the consultant about special diet he said no. He even said my husband could have a small drink over Christmas. I thought he was nuts for suggesting such a thing. At the moment he has really severe low abdominal pain. Near the appendix. You never know when to contact a dr or just get on with it. It is so stressful and worrying you just don't know what to do. I never tell my husband what I read so not too alarm him which makes it hard for me carrying this about. I wish you all the best theresaa

Hezzie, I have chronic pancreatitis and your symptoms seem very similar to mine

My pain is also in right side under my rib cage. You will know if your having a pancreatic attack as your stools smell the worst you could imagine, and the pain will become intolerable.

My specialist has me on Creon which has helped a bit , but I have constant pain, see him again Friday after spending a week in hospital after collapsing at football match in January

Hope you get the treatment to help you

Hope you find out the problem. I too have right sided based pain. I constantly push two fingers into achey area(it helps!) I have not been to any Doctor yet. I am uninsured and plain scared. I am losing weight and not eating right also. The stress and worrying are as bad as the pain. Just wanted you to know you're not alone. Good luck.
