Yes! Im not sure what is going on but i get what feels sudden onset of sore muscles/ribs but its very weird. It comes on within an hour or so can move from one side to the other, both sides, into my back, etc. can last hours or a day or two. It feels "metabolic" and ive wondered if it was hormones or neurotransmitters or something like that. I do think it tends to happen more around a period but i honestly dont know what it is and worried it could be something more sinister.

I get it more around mid cycle to. I get relief lying on a tennis ball directly behind the rib. I also had onset of costochondritis with perimeno so probably all inflammation related to hormones fluctuating.

always on left side. It kinda feels like something is kicking my ribs from the inside. It always happens about a week before my period. It is always there that week a dull pain but every once in a while it will be a sharp pain.

For me it is always on the left side 😦
I cannot even get the "comfort" of it being around period because I am 9 months period-free - going towards (hopefully) menopause. But it is spooky as hell and increases my anxiety hugely!
Don't know how long i can cope with all the symptoms...am almost at the end of my ability to bear!

If it's any comfort, it's been one of my scariest symptoms to date, & I've had 2 CT scans for it over the years. Can go on for weeks without relief, ease up a bit and then return. my left side, pain increases when I breathe in deeply and expand my ribcage. Has since extended into my mid-back and if it's massaged, it doesn't seem to touch the ache or pain of the ribs. My RMT gave me an exercise to try where I am to hold my ribcage with both hands, firmly, and then when I inhale, I am to keep resistance pressure on my ribcage and tighten my hands when exhaling. I haven't done it consistently to be able to give feedback on this technique, but for years I couldn't believe that this could be muscular, given how tender it felt. Started as a small area under my left side a bit lower in the ribs. As nothing has shown up on the CT scans, and it's been years of this (and gotten worse), my only conclusion can be that it's peri related. Last year I saw a rheumatologist and he said that the "banded" ribs i was describing was a known symptom of fibromyalgia. I find wearing light bras unbearable... I have had it during the months without a period as well. My ribs now hurt when i twist in bed or move certain ways, which I suppose is comforting in that I thought it might be something scary to do with my lungs/kidneys or heart. I hope you feel better soon...
