Right Ankle swelling - TRHR

My right ankle swells up from sitting or walking with a cane. Swelling reduces after lying down. 4.5 weeks post op. Is this normal?

I suspect so especially if it is on the same side as your hip op. I had a tendon graft in my right ankle 48 years ago, it has always swollen slightly during the day going at night. This was much much worse in the weeks after my THR on the same side. Is back to " normal " now

Yes: it's really quite common.  Both my feet & ankles were swollen for a number of weeks post op (don't recall how many now).  The swelling will go away eventually!

Yes swelling is normal. Keep doing your exercises most important, also you keep that circulation moving. Even when you are sitting stretch your toes out as far as they can go and then pull back towards you shin again as far as you can go, that will flex the muscles in the backs of calves, and keep that blood moving. It is possible for you to develop a blood clot in your leg after surgery, you don't want this to happen. Not just swelling but alot of heat as well would be the symptoms of a blood clot, and more localized in one spot rather than just general swelling of your whole foot.
