I feel for you Sam, I know what you are going through. I woke up today with some quite bad pains, but I've done a couple of light chores around the house and amazingly it seems to have eased off totally. My IBS produces a lot of bloating and I can only think I've helped move the wind around a bit.
There is another possibility, especially considering you have belly button and right side pain. You might have a grumbling appendix. My uncle used to get severe pain around the areas you mentioned for years, passed off as IBS. One day the pains went up a few levels, he was apparently in excruciating pain, pain he could never had imagined was possible. He was rushed to hospital and they found he had a burst appendix. They removed it, he healed, and ever since then no IBS symptoms at all. It's probably not the cause of your symptoms, but you never know. Just keep an eye on the pain, if it gets really severe and constant, seek medical advice straight away.
I hope it passes soon for you, take care and all the best.

Hi Paul, I've spoken to my doctor and she feels its IBS related pain and asked what stress I was under so I explained, they have to make my doctor even more bland than it was! This is painful but I'm just trying to put up with it really but i'm sure it will ease off, maybe when I get to 93! The right hand side pain has eased off and it feels like an IBS flare up. Thanks for the information though!

I know all about a bland diet Sam, it's such a bore but hopefully it should give you some relief. I'd rather eat boring plain foods than be in pain.
Good that the doctor feels your pain is IBS related, it can be extremely painful, I've had to call for an ambulance in the past due to the intense pain, thinking it was something more. When they arrived they checked me over for about half an hour and towards the end, the pains started to ease. I felt so guilty and silly for calling them out, even though they were very understanding.
Whenever I get pains now, I always check my vitals, heart rate, oxygen levels, temperature and blood pressure and if all those look normal then I know it's probably IBS, if it were anything more severe then one or some of my vitals would more than likely be abnormal.
Just try and rest and relax as much as you can and I'm sure it will pass soon, easy to say I know, I'm a total stress head as well so I know how difficult it can be.
