This is indeed the curse of IBS!  IBS pain moves about to different areas of your stomach.  This is very common; I have had rhis.  The best thing you can do is to take Buscopan and Nurofen together which works for me if the pain is bad and persistent.

Nurofen. I believe has Ibaprofen which will agravate the stomach liniing makes things worse using Nurofen counteracts the Buscapan. Parecetomal best Obviuosly can see Buscopan maybe helpful to some peoplle but this is not any help to people who have severe IiBD or IBS or other as I have ended up in AE and past out with the pain.had ti be  given Morphine because constant. Diarrhoa other . Questran. sachets is the absolute brilliant med that solves all my pain and now I take 4 sachets a day doesnt taste nice but can mix with juice and water

For me, IBS thankfully is my only problem and nurofen  actually really helps my pain and works great with Buscopan if an antispasmodic alone is not enough.  Paracetemol does not give me enough pain relief at all.  Nurofen is not a problem if you are not taking it a lot and you have no stomach inflammation.  I find taking it with milk or food helps to protect my stomach lining.

Just been refered back to consultant as been in pain and weight loss since last October 2017. Constant diarrhoea and pain radiates arond naval and riight side of lower rib cage then later moves down my left side My symptoms bit compplicated as I had my gall bladder out in 1992 and now get bile dumping inti my stomach as bile duct not working I also have pockets of dirverticulitus in October ladt year they suspected an ulcer but did not scan me hospital. Unfortunatly Im alergic to meds that could help me such as Omzeprasole Ratidin even codiene and obvously cant take Ibaprofen as irratates stomach .Badically I had tried everythiing doesnt matter what I eat However suggest you dont drink coffee as a laxitive or choclate or to much tea and avoid fizzy drinks . Theree is so much I cant eat its so much pain and a constant toothache in my stomach Just to let you know I now going to have another endiscopy and ultra sound my abddonem and tube down my throat to look at  my throat and upper stomaach for an ulcer because thats where you will get alot if pain right lower rib and navel area. The only thing that stops my dirrhoea is sachets of a powder form mixed with water called Questran its a sort of fibre supplement medication that also controls my bile dumping my consultant put me back on it and this defnatly stops my pain other its even brilliant for chrones. and IBD. I suggest you ask your doctor for it or be refered to a consultant. Could even be your gallbladder causing this pain and diarrhoea Some doctors just label you as having IBS. without investigations you really need ti get the correct diiagnosis

I feel for you Sam, I know what you are going through. I woke up today with some quite bad pains, but I've done a couple of light chores around the house and amazingly it seems to have eased off totally. My IBS produces a lot of bloating and I can only think I've helped move the wind around a bit.

There is another possibility, especially considering you have belly button and right side pain. You might have a grumbling appendix. My uncle used to get severe pain around the areas you mentioned for years, passed off as IBS. One day the pains went up a few levels, he was apparently in excruciating pain, pain he could never had imagined was possible. He was rushed to hospital and they found he had a burst appendix. They removed it, he healed, and ever since then no IBS symptoms at all. It's probably not the cause of your symptoms, but you never know. Just keep an eye on the pain, if it gets really severe and constant, seek medical advice straight away.

I hope it passes soon for you, take care and all the best.

Hi Paul, I've spoken to my doctor and she feels its IBS related pain and asked what stress I was under so I explained, they have to make my doctor even more bland than it was! This is painful but I'm just trying to put up with it really but i'm sure it will ease off, maybe when I get to 93! The right hand side pain has eased off and it feels like an IBS flare up. Thanks for the information though!

I know all about a bland diet Sam, it's such a bore but hopefully it should give you some relief. I'd rather eat boring plain foods than be in pain.

Good that the doctor feels your pain is IBS related, it can be extremely painful, I've had to call for an ambulance in the past due to the intense pain, thinking it was something more. When they arrived they checked me over for about half an hour and towards the end, the pains started to ease. I felt so guilty and silly for calling them out, even though they were very understanding.

Whenever I get pains now, I always check my vitals, heart rate, oxygen levels, temperature and blood pressure and if all those look normal then I know it's probably IBS, if it were anything more severe then one or some of my vitals would more than likely be abnormal.

Just try and rest and relax as much as you can and I'm sure it will pass soon, easy to say I know, I'm a total stress head as well so I know how difficult it can be.
