Hi i'v suffered with groin and lower stomach pain for years I've had every test under the sun but it was only when i went back to see my vascular surgeon some years ago that i asked if my symptoms were anything to do with the vein removal surgery, the surgeon said he suspected my symptoms could be hernias in my groin, i just thought he was trying to pass the book cause i had problems with my operation and had to go back under the knife to re-do the procedure under general anaesthetic.

I went to the hospital and i had an ultrasound scan of both groins, i was shocked to be told i had a femoral hernia in both my groins and i would require surgery. sad

Im only 41 and i was meant to have my operation 2 years ago but I've put it off because i have young children but i'm now at the point where i can't put this operation any longer and just want it over and done with, i'm fed up of the pain and my feet go in cramp constantly i think the hernias may be restricting the blood flow to my legs at times it's not a nice feeling. i fully sympathise with anyone who has this same problem, thing is with me is i have a strong pain threshold etc but give me an operation and my body seems to take way too long to recover

Hi, there are a few discussions for Femoral hernias on this site, and my story is somewhere among them, with other people discussing their hernias too. I had numbness in my leg and tingling in my feet. My doctor was convinced I had a hernia. I had an MRI, ultrasound which showed nothing. I saw a few consultants and the last one I saw said unless you have another MRI on your back I will not see you. So off I went and it transpired I had a prolapsed disc, just a mild one and had had no back pain and I lifted very heavy weights. That particular consultant said that my pain down my right leg was all to do with the nerves from the prolapsed disc. I have to say that my doctor still said that I had a hernia so I had an exploratory in that area under general and they found nothing. So all my problems stemmed from my back and I didn't have a hernia at all. I had to pay for this privately, it was only the ultrasound that was done on the NHS. Have a look at the other discussions on this site maybe under hernias or femoral hernias and see if you can find someone who has had a hernia to contact.

It would be very useful to other suffers if you could describe your symptoms because I may not have believed it was a hernia if someone who definitely had had a hernia described the problems/pain that goes with a femoral hernia.

    Good luck.
