Right Hip Replacement

Hi, I'm a 48 year old guy and I'm getting my right hip replaced next Tue 5th March. To say I'm worried is an understatement! It's not so much the op it's the waking up in pain part that's worrying me and I've got this daft thought in my head that if I bend my hip the wound will burst open, I know I'm being daft about it and loads get done every year but it's really bothering me. I've also been advised to have the epidural instead of the general, can anyone advise which is best?

    Hi wilky,

I am 27, I had THR in last week (14 Feb), I have fear of length gaps in between both legs,

Currently it seems that there is difference of 1 inch (after 1 week of surgery) in my case

Dose that 1 inch difference match by regular physical therapy (exercises, walking)

Because Dr says that initially in first week that difference is normal as patient recover that difference will gone

Hi i found that eventually muscles to operated side eventually improve and that may be why any difference in length improves. The muscle has a lot of recovery and strengthening etc to go through..hence the importance of the excercises. Its a longer road than you think..but dont give up!
