Right hip resurfacing Friday Nov 2

Got my right hip resurfaced by Dr Gross in Columbia, SC.

I met all requirements to have the procedure done at an outpatient facility. Everything went so smooth!

I am making sure to keep up with my pain medicines, exercises and icing.

Do any if you have a polar care ice machine? It is wonderful!

I'm walking with the aide of crutches, the hardest thing I have found so far is sliding into a chair, car, or couch.

Bathroom has surprisingly went well, I don't like the raised toilet seat!

I'm scheduled to get my left hip resurfaced in December.

    Hi,

Use a plastic bag to sit on, it makes swinging around much easier in the car and dining chairs. When you say you went to outpatients, were you in and out on the same day? Good luck with your recovery.

Yes I was in and out the same day. I had to meet a certain criteria to be able to do it outpatient. We stayed in hotel and the doctor came the next morning and my husband was ready to drive me home 8 hours. And if i lived closer I could have went to my home that evening.

Hi from UK... Delightfully happy for you.

Had my Birmingham hip resurface a decade ago, all fine.

In UK tho there has been a concern about metal ions in bloodstream, esp for females , and many hospitals have reacted /overreacted by doing very few resurfacings.

So my second hip op recently was total hip replacement, when I'd have rather had a resurfacing again.

    But hey, both are fine!

    Warmly

I was required to have a bone density scan and my numbers were off the chart. As far as metal my doctor has said that the problem is very minute now if the socket is placed properly,

I'm happy both of your surgeries were a success!

When you say your bone density scan had numbers off the chart. Are you saying that you have osteoporosis?
