Right side of my neck/throat hurts near my Adam's apple

The right side of my throats hurts and I can't exactly describe where it is. I'm pretty sure it isn't in my actuall throat but I could be wrong. I can feel and hurt the area that is in pain by pushing in between my neck muscle and my Adam's apple. I smoke but not very often and I haven't been doing it for a very long time (a little over a year). It hurts when I swallow, cough and it hurts if I stretch the right side of my neck. But I feel like it has to do with the actual movement of my throat that hurts whatever is irritated and not my throat itself. I've had a cough as well for two weeks and I had another cough two weeks prior to this cough, I'm not sure if this is correlated with my neck problem but I thought I'd add it anyway.

Hi Jake. Not sure if you have the same thing as I do, but sounds a lot like it. Mine is on the left side, but I went to see an ENT a couple of weeks ago. He said that I have Lingual Tonsillitis. I had never heard of Lingual Tonsils. Turns out that we have two sets of tonsils. The visible tonsils on each side of throat are Palantine tonsils. Then, at the back of your tongue right where you swallow is a set of Lingual tonsils. They are all Lymphatic tissue, which helps to guard against disease. Is why Drs do not like to remove them. I had mine removed when I was 47. Had terrible tonsillitis as a child, so was a blessing to get them out. Anyway, I went to You Tube and watched a video on removal of Lingual tonsils. I do not want that surgery. I have been gargling with Colgate Peroxyl in morning and at bedtime, since it has hydrogen peroxide in it. Used to really help regular tonsillitis. I also gargle warm salt water 4-5 times a day. Use iodized salt, or sea salt. Do not get too salty or too warm. If you smoke, quit now. I used to smoke and nothing is worth the cost of your health. Drink lots of water. Stop all carbonated drinks, caffeine, and reduce sugar intake. If it does not get better soon, find a good ENT. Research online and read reviews. Also, can fix a mixture of honey and turmeric powder. A swallow before bedtime will ease throat pain. Hope you are feeling better soon. God Bless You.

Did you have a lymph node swollen on the left of your neck towards the top middle of your neck when you found out about that type of tonsiliitis? I'm curious because I've been having pain on the right side of my neck for a while now, and one lymph node is swollen and it's pretty painful around that very same place jake90104 mentioned.
