Right Side Ulcerative Colitis

I've recently been diagnosed with right side ulcerative colitis, but can't find much information about it. Has anyone else had this diagnosis and can point me in the direction of any information? Thank you in advance!

Colitis can cause ulcers in different parts of the body also like tongue eyes etc. Weight loss and generally feeling rubbish. Loose and offern trips to the loo.
It can be controlled by daily drugs like pentasa

Yes, I'm on mezavant xl to see if that helps. Ive read there are different types of uc though - left sided, ulcerative proctitis, proctosigmoiditis and pan-ulcerative colitis, but i have been told i have right side uc which is none of these so i was wondering if anyone else was diagnosed with the same type?

Yes, thank you! I've just started looking at their page today and have emailed them the same query as i can't see any mention of right side colitis on it. Anything I've read pretty much says if its on the right side then its not uc. I think I'll need to ask the dr a few questions when i go back in a few weeks.

Hi Jo, uc affects the colon/rectum. but crohns is very similar to uc but tends to not affect rectums so much as uc, but can affect the small bowel which is nearer to the right side of the colon. you could ask the consultant if they looked at the end of your small bowel when they did colonoscopy(i'm assuming you had this to determine uc). if there wa any inflammation or ulceration at the end of your small bowel it could indicate crohns & warrant further testing in your small bowel. x
