Right treatment for blepharitis

Posted , 4 users are following.

After two years off and on of what I know to be a dreadful complaint to have to put up with, blepharitis, I think i have found something that works, after just one treatment of two products from my GP I am finally no longer suffering, I used a blephaclean wipe, and followed that up with a couple of hypomellose eye drops and for once I am no longer rubbing my eyes, as they are normally full of gunk and weeping, sore, swollen and feel like i have grit in them and I just wanted to share with you, as I know how people suffer with this, the drops however you only use as and when you need them, as they are quite powerful, but keep using a wipe on both eyes night and morning, hope this helps someone.

Well I just hope some of you will in fact respond to this because i know this much, a lot of you post about using wet wipes and baby shampoo and other stuff like that and it really didn't work for me is all I'm saying and neither my GP nor my optician has ever recommended that type of stuff, and baby shampoo, I'm very sorry but that would make my eyes sting, and the idea is not JUST to clean the eye it is to provide the right anti bacterial stuff for it, such as blethaclean wipes, which are properly surgical and the eye drops too are a specialist thing, I can't see any reason to mess about with other ineffective stuff like I see some of you come out wiht and it is no wonder you are still suffering symptoms, that's all i am saying.

Thanks Fiona. I have used the Blephaclean wipes, which my optician said would clear my eyes in 4 days. They helped but my eyes were not clear. I am hopeful that with the input from various people on the blog that I will find a solution. I come from a medical background, so am pretty aware of the use of medications. It is great that people find the time to share their experiences, as the Blepharitis is difficult to treat and even getting a proper diagnosis seems difficult sometimes.

    Thanks again for your input.

Hi , I'm in the middle of another bout right now , the worst of it being dryness during the day as well as the usual dryness overnight .

I'd been using the bleph liqid cleaner twice a day plus the microwaveable heat bag . At night i still have to use the Lacrilube and if I don't use quite enough I'll wake with a half total bloodshot eye !

I need to get a new bottle as the one I'm currently using is rather old . It still "dilutes" and cleans off the excess left from the Lacrilube and if used before applying the lacrilube it makes the cleaning off in the morning alot easier and quicker . A guy mentioned that there is alot of research going on into bleph at a hospital near Birmingham ( UK ) .

I'm having a review with my doctor soon so I'll mention the hypomellose drops .

    Thanks for sharing

    David
