HI,
Had two embolisms 4 years apart first time put on Warfarin for 6 months with no problems then after embolism in July put on Warfarin again and got aches and pains so changed to Rivaroxaban which is even worse muscle pain weekness sometimes in hands other times in shoulders or knees feel as though no energy, can't seem to get any answers spoke to a couple of docs and they have said it can't be the pills but when you tell them to look at side effects on leaflet that says 1 in 10 can experience pain they just look at you blank. Am considering coming off it for a week just to see if it has any effect. Has anybody had this problem and if so which anticoagulant did they switch too I know there are a few others but don't know which ones are best for PE.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had joined this forum to better understand my partner's use of warfarin after he had a fall that caused bleeding in his brain. He subsequently had what is presumed to have been another fall that caused his brain to bleed again, this time developing a subdural hematoma that went undetected for an estimated three weeks. Not knowing about any fall I had called emergency several days ago when his symptoms became alarming, thinking that he was perhaps suffering a stroke. We are now in the hospital tending to the brain injury, and since he can't safely be on warfarin any longer they are at this moment putting an IVC Filter in place. I write to this forum for the last time offering that maybe you can ask your doctors of the applicability of such a filter as an alternate in your case.

I'm assuming Rivaroxaban 1 year and a half. Before I hired for 6 months acenocoumarol. After about 1 week after taking Rivaroxaban (I assumed it at 8 pm) started a high exhaustion, around lunch time I had already sleeping, big muscle weakness. Precise that are great sports woman. These symptoms have lasted three months. I resisted and started to improve: no longer sleepy, recovered strength largely. I do not have the vitality of before taking rivaroxaban. I'm sure that the symptoms are derived from this drug, because heparin and acenocoumarol absolutely did not create these problems.

I had the opposite effect. I had a PE 4 years ago was put on Warfarin which was ok but I did suffer very mild pain in my leg arms and hand - almost like a numbing sensation. I changed to Riveroxaban last year and have not had any of these symptons . I think it really is down to the individuals body chemistry differnet drugs suit differengt people. As for the Doctors . Its odd that the symtons you have are listed as possible side effects but the Doctors dismiss this . I would insist of being refereed to a specialist . Ensure your Doctor puts this request in your notes.
All the best
