Rock bottom

2nd time on citalopram week 4 on 20mg.

Yesterday and today feel like I've hit rock bottom.

I know the meds work as they have in the past but need some reassurance that something will change soon and I'll get better as I'm feeling hopeless and that I will never get better. Worst I've ever felt x

They definitely will work but it takes time to even out. It gets worse before it gets better. I've been on Citalopram for about 9 years and have just upped my dosage as having a bad time with lots of traumas etc. Have had to take some time off work as my anxiety levels at night are through the roof.

I just keep reminding myself they have always worked in the past so will do again but this rollercoaster ride is anything but pleasant. Hang on in there and just try to go with the flow. I know that's easier said than done. I just keep repeating "this also will pass" like a mantra.

I am now trying 30mg instead of my usual 20mg. it seems like a lot but have had quite a bit going on and just not coping. Have been on Citalopram for a long time as every time I come off I have a relapse.

I hate the tension you get when you get so anxious and it seems mad to get more when you first start taking meds but once it evens out at least you can have some kind of a life. At present existing would be a better description.

Thank goodness we can at least encourage each other by sharing horror stories !!!!

how many times have you been on it now? someone said they don't work a second time but I'm not sure about that as I've seen a few people on it a couple of times x

increasing sounds like a good way to go as 30mg does work better than 20mg for most people x I've been up to 40mg in the past before x

      how are you feeling atm?

I've been on and off a few times but this year has been hell as I lost my father and broke my wrist and work has been exhausting. A couple of weeks ago I just felt so low and anxious. On Wednesday I have my mammogram and because I had breast cancer in the past I have convinced myself it's back because it's a bit sore although the Gp is convinced there is nothing there. Been consulting Dr Google and now beside myself with worry. Can't seem to function at any level except the basic at the moment.

      Thanks for your support.

if your heart is pounding then definatelyntry the higher dose of propranalol it does really lower the heart rate and make you feel calmer - i found the 10mg doesnt really do anything

it does sound like you might have a bit of insomnia so i reckon you should try one of the sedating antihistamines
