I think it really depends with the individual case. Just be at peace and be strong, nothing can be stronger than your own thinking

My partner recently had a large non melanoma removed from his cheek, the surgery took about 10 mins under local anaesthetic. Scar seemed huge at first but after stitches were out it has healed to almost invisible, very impressed.

it takes 5 or 10 minutes to remove it. however if the margins are cleared by frozen section or moh's that could take an hour or more. closure of the wound can take 10 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the wound. the bigger the ulcer the greater the need for frozen section or moh's.

Moh's has probably the best outcome but is an expensive procedure. Under the NHS in England you probably wont be offered it. They'll excise more than they think is needed, then do biopsy later and if there is healthy tissue surrounding the lump, they will have taken out enough. If you have private medical insurance, then moh's is a better option as each sample taken is analysed on site and they'll only remove more if absolutely needed.

Thank you. My husband had it done today, took 90 mins from start to finish. Not sure what moh's are!

It's one of the procedures used. Simplified explanation - they take away some tissue, then while you wait they test it and if any suspect cells present, they take some more, until the sample is clear then they close up. Benefits are that you can be sure they took away everything they needed to and no having a worrying wait for results or having to come back for further surgery. Downside is a lot of waiting around on the day - small price to pay I guess. Unfortunately it's not often offered on NHS because its costly to do it that way. It is however formally recognised as the most effective technique. Sad that our health is often compromised by always having to have the cheapest option rather than the most effective.
