ROMs and "windows of opportunity'

I keep reading or hearing about the need to gain a good range of knee bend within the first six weeks after surgery or be left with limited range of movement hereafter. Can anybody confirm this or can i stop feeling panic as my own Rom is stuck on 60? With thanks.

Panic is never good. Follow advice of your surgeon and physiotherapists and do exercises to the best of your ability. As far as I understand a common aim is for range of motion to be at 90 degrees by six weeks, but there seems a range of experiences in terms of how quickly or slowly people progress. I am not a medical professional though, so best to voice your concerns to those involved in your care and gain reassurance from them too.
