rosea on a 10 yr old

My poor son has just been diagnosed with rosea we thought it was ringworm. Dr just confirmed today after four weeks with it. The one thing I noticed with it that a lot of articles don't state in the symptoms is fatigue. My son is so tired 4 weeks and counting. I wish they would state this in the symptoms. They do say they get tired, flu like symptoms prior to rash. Well news flash, the fatigue lingers. Anyone else the same?

    Hi shani22941,

Emotions can also make a person tired.  Consider all possibilities. If your son is a sensitive type, it would make sense that having a nasty rash all over himself would make him tired.  It could also just be the PR itself. Everyone has slightly different symptoms.  Mine was Very Itchy, some others experienced No Itchiness.

Use the head and shoulders to shower with, get him out in the sun and give him support, which I am sure you are doing. It will go away.  Don't give it too much energy, that will only make things worse.

PR is self-limiting, even without treatment.  Take it easy mom. Regards, Carole

    Hi Shani

So sorry to hear about  your son! I had PR in March and i had the innitial patch on my bak that looked like ring worm, but after it s[read through out on my back and chest, neck and lower fce the dr diagnosed me with PR.

I got a cold/flu a week after the first patch was visble. I was extremely tired and had no energy. This is what i did to cure it:

Showered 3 times a day ( with head and shoulders shampoo and used it as body wash)

Moisturised with Aveeno body lotion and cocunut oil

Slept and did light exercise every day

I also went to sun beds reguarly and that seemed to help ( I am not suggesting you take your precious little boy to tannning bed, but sun eposure helps)

The unfortunate thing about PR is that it takes about 6- 9 weeks to fully dissappear! Hang in there! it will go away!

As a mom of a 16 year old son who had PR during basketball season, I know how stressful it is for your child as well as you.  My son was watching YouTube videos of people who had and he was so distraught.

Do the Head and Shoulders wash immediately!   Followed by Aveeno lotion and after they've started to fade, Aveeno moisturizing body wash.  Try EmergenC to boost immune system.  And hydrocortisone with Aloe for itching.  The results should be dramatic in just a few days.
