Rosehip capsules and Curcumen Tablets for PMR and RA

Posted , 8 users are following.

I have been told the above combination helps with PMR and RA. I have been thinking of giving it a go.. No matter what I try Pred. - So many side effects, its driving me insane and I'm still in pain, Methoblastin again the side effects are killing me, Pain relief - I think are reacting to the above, so I feel sick all the time, so trying something new just might be the ticket for me....any thoughts on this would be welcome.....

Steroids seem to be the only thing that really helps PMR. You could always try the rosehip and curcumen as an addition.

Can't see they would do any harm, and if they give you SOME relief they would be worth trying. ATB.

If you are taking pred and it isn't helping then either you aren't on enough or it isn't PMR at all. One definition of the PMR we discuss here is that it is pred-responsive.

I took methotrexate (Methoblastin) for a month and found the side effects worse than PMR - it isn't the only option so you could tell your doctor you won't take it (as I did) and could try one of the others. Leflunomide has a good name amongst top GCA people and works well for one lady in the Scottish PMRGCA charity. These are not guaranteed steroid sparers - they work for some people. If you can take them without additional side effects they are worth trying. If they don't work they don't work and you might as well stop them. Actemra is already approved all over the world for RA and there are other newer RA drugs that also work on IL-6 so would work for PMR too. Most of us don't have that choice as our diagnosis doesn't include RA.

As for supplements - they may help. But if they are effective - they can also have side effects and interact with other medications so be careful. This is a fair assessment of what is known

Sorry - you will have to copy and paste my link, they seem to no longer work as they did.
