Rotator cuff rehabilitation

Hi guys. Had my shoulder arthroscopy op just over 2 weeks ago and apart from first few days of intense pain it’s not been as bad as I anticipated.  It was a success to a point but as I’ve had arthritis for years I’ve been told It was a massive tear and I will need a new shoulder eventually due to the degeneration of my bone but I’m not thinking about that yet I’m concentrating on getting myself better now.  I was left a message by my consultant today  to only take my arm out of the sling for elbow mobilisation but I’m not really sure what that entails I tried to ring him back but couldn’t get through.  I have taken it out of its sling for washing dressing etc but always made sure it was suppprted. Can anyone tell me what this means  im seeing him for my first post op appt next week but don’t want to do any damage.  I can bend my elbow with the sling on but I’ve never let it hang straight yet so some advice before I do anything would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

I wouldn’t do anything except for keep the arm immobilized in your immobilizer. I would not try to straighten it as my doctor told me absolutely do not straighten your arm at all for the first six weeks. I don’t know what you had exactly but that’s what I was told. If you’re in doubt at all don’t do it.
