Rotator Cuff Repair 2/2019, recent MRI showing reinjury.

Posted , 4 users are following.

4 months after surgery I started having a different kind of pain, way worse then before and right after surgery.

New MRI showed 2 new small tears and an artifact floating around. I'm only guessing it's an anchor that came off. I have an appointment with my Doctor to find out what the next step is.

anyone have any idea what they think might happen? the next step after this.. yes it's probably a big DUH on my part, thinking that I won't have to have surgery again.

All I know is the pain is so bad that it hurts just to move and the pain is spreading to my hand and all the way across to my other shoulder.

any ideas, thoughts, suggestions and encouragement would be appreciated.

Thank you

jamie

oh man ! how did you hurt ? did you have any accident that caused retear ? well, i think you might have to wait until DR's appointment. if it is a small tear it wouldnt necessarily need a surgery imo. i had revision surgery too and still on rehab. good luck 😃

    Hello JamieJones,

I'm sorry you are going through this!!! I had both shoulders done last year (rotator cuff, bicep tenodesis, acromioplasty and debridement). First sgy on the left done in April, 2nd on the right done in October. The right one is great...but the left one has a similar tale to yours - but full thickness tear. I did everything by the book and went to PT without fail. When the pain started, I waited for a bit hoping it would go away...finally ended up getting a steroid injection which did nothing...which led to the MRI order and dx. I am having to go back in for revision sgy on June 7th and may be receiving a graft if the tendon is beyond repair. Not at all what I would have wanted to happen - but understand the pain as it hurts to wash my face, do my hair - forget about trying to drive with that arm, or turn on a light switch - fold clothes - hold my grandbabies - you name it!!! I hope you learn yours doesn't require a revision...but is concerning that there is something floating round in there. Maybe it won't be as extensive as your first sgy if you do have to go back in. Just can't believe another summer without canoeing, gardening, etc. Ugh!

    Wishing you All the Best!
