Roughly how long does it take for 30 mg to work fully?

I was on 20 mg for about 3 months. It almost was my golden ticket out of anxiety, but I couldn't kick the fear/anxiety in the morning hours. Then, it got a bit worse and dragged into the day. My primary care doctor suggested I try 30 mg, so I bumped it up and things got worse for about 1-3 days but on the 4th day I started to feel a lot better. Now, at 2 weeks on the 30 mg things are pretty darn good, but I still sleep pretty anxiously and it takes about 30 min in the morning for my fear/anxiety to settle.
So, to sum it up I've had 3 months of 20 mg, 2 weeks on 30 mg, which makes a grand total of 3.5 months on Citalopram. Do you think the 30 mg will kick in completely soon and relieve my sleep and morning anxiety?
Thanks,
Kyle

6-8 weeks for it to kick in properly 12 weeks until full effects so plenty of time to get better 2 weeks is super early x

That is really good to hear! I feel about 80% better but it is still inconsistent. I can perform my job and tasks at home as good as ever, but I have this strange "nervousness" in the back of my mind. I'll make another post at 3 months on the 30 mg to update where I am.

kyle everybody is different and 3 months is early. patience is key. its hard to be patient with anxiety i know. there is no set time on recovery . i would give a dose and med a good 6 months or more before changing. you will see better days stay the course!!!

Brian,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Staying the course seems to be the best option for me now. I can definitely tell the 30 mg is kicking in pretty well during the day, but I'm having weird nightmares now. I'll get anxiety in my dreams so I'm sleeping very poorly. When I wake up in the morning my anxiety goes away and I'm fine throughout the day. I'll definitely take it because having some nightmares is better than having a nightmarish real life while you are awake lol. I'm hoping with some time the nightmares go away though.

morning anxiety is mostly caused by the sudden change in calm sleeping to waking . our body is adjusting. when anxiety is on us and during the start up effects of these meds - makes this morning process worse. as for me i too had some bad dreams and would wake suddenly. i also would flinch and move in bed. my muscles would tense and release. and i would sweat in bed. this all goes away. the dr gave me klonopin i took as needed but i took for a long time at night and this mostly stoped all night symptoms except sweating. morning anxiety is about the last start up side effect to go for most people
