Who should I reach out to there? Which department? Plastic surgery & Gynaecology?

I applied for a GP today, but I called the hospital today and they told me I could go via private insuranse as well, I have one from work, not sure how the whole thing works though.

On the good news my labia area seems a lot better but my perinneal tear looks and feels horrible I could hardly walk back from work today sad

I'm afraid that maybe it's infected or I may need stitches or sth sad

Thank you all for beeing my support system! I feel less lonely and helpless <3>

Hi Amalita, Are you using anything for labia? Have you tried the steroid ointment?I share your feelings of lonliness and helplessness. I just wondered what tou have tried so far. Thiss support group keeps me going. I just wanted you to know that there are great suggestions from these women, that the doctors may not have time to share with you.   Cynthia  I am new to this, too.

I used to use Benovate for when I had a bad flare up (but now I don't have with me and I can't get without prescription) and oil or simple babanthol cream when not having an issue, mild annoyance or complimentary to Benovate. I haven't tried any estrogen or steroid creams and I just ordered emuaid ointment. It's so frustrating that I just can't go see a doctor!

I am sure you have already read this suggestion, but don't forget to use coconut oil and/or emu oil on the area that hurts.  Either is very soothing, and the emu oil especially has pain-killing properties.  An even better pain-killer is emuaid ointment, but it is expensive (to me)...but I would pay twice the price if I had to.  Emu oil is much cheaper on eBay, and the coconut oil is even available in some regular supermarkets.  Filling a small spray bottle with warm water and a few pinches of baking soda is also very, very helpful.  Do the spraying after every bathroom visit if possible.  It seems to help heal the tissues to some extent.  Can you just wear skirts and maybe even go without underwear?  I do.  That is one thing my dr. recommended right away.  Try very hard to either cut out or cut way down on sugar.  That will help very fast, too.  I know you have probably already read these hints here, but if not, this will give you some things to do right away for pain relief.

OH!  also do not use regular soap.   In the US, cetaphil non-soap is what I use.  I tried emuaid cleansing bar (it is also not soap)...but here it is $20.00 a bar, and cetaphil soap, which is available at K-Mart and Walmart here, is $5.00 a bar.

Does the emuaid have any fragrance? I hope not. Have you heard of epaderm? Some say for lubriation.  I can only do sitz baths for that area. I can't even touch it at this point.Even a gentle shower spray is painful. Getting worse. Feeling lost. Water seems to wash away natural lubrication, making it more painful.I have been using spray botttle after urination.Wipes all natural after BM.

Oh, Cynthia...I am so sorry you are suffering such terrible pain.  I have never had as much pain as you are having.  What drove me to the dr. originally was the most hideous, intense...mind blowing ITCHING I had ever experienced.   That dr. treated me for a yeast infection, which it turned out was not what I had.  But, I digress.  About your pain:  I have never had the amount of pain you are having.  I am so sorry.  The emuaid should really, really help...it is even used for the pain of shingles, and says on the label it works for LS.  It has no fragrance...I was very timid about using it for the first time, since I didn't want to try something that might cause harm....so I used the tiniest little smidgeon...but it was so mild and helped so much, I had no hesitation at all about putting it on a bit heavier after that.  I have not heard of "epaderm"....is it a painkiller of some sort?  The specialist I went to recommended vaseline as a barrier, and I know it is fragrance-free and mild...but I didn't want to use a petroleum-based product...but if you happen to have vaseline already, and do not have the emuaid, it might help to go ahead and use the vaseline and see if it helps with the pain.  Plain emu oil is also wonderful to use, as LS skin seems to feel a bit "sticky"...and the emu oil or coconut oil helps keep the skin from sticking to itself.  Sheesh.  What a condition we all have.  I really wish I had some adivce that would totally eliminate all your pain.... one more thing:  you may want to look up information on EFT...that is a technique to control emotions and re-set one's pattern of thinking.  The website has many articles, and the ones of using EFT to overcome chronic pain work very, very well.  Just a thought.

Rubbing salt on to the wound sounds mad.... However if the dilution is 1 teaspoon ordinary salt dissolved into 1pint of warm water...in "old money"  and poured over the area while on the loo or in the bath it should be soothing. Our blood, plasma and tears are all salty and it is at the " normal saline " dilution I described above, so the body shouldn't react unfavourably The area can be slightly acidic so that is the rationale for a gentle spray with a weak solution of an  alkaline ie sodium bicarbonate disolved in water, often the area gets rather too acidic for some reason. Do drink lots of water to keep the urine very dilute too.

Uric acid is a chemical created when the body breaks down substances called purines. Purines are found in some foods and drinks. These include liver, anchovies, mackerel, dried beans and peas, and beer.

Most uric acid dissolves in blood and travels to the kidneys. From there, it passes out in urine. If your body produces too much uric acid or doesn't remove enough if it, you can get sick.

Your diet also may determine how acidic or alkaline your urine is. For example, if you eat a diet low in meat and high in fruits and vegetables you are more likely to have alkaline urine (Welch, et al., 2008). Those who consume higher amounts of meat are more likely to have acidic urine. Your doctor may recommend some changes to your diet if your urine is too high or too low.

hope that helps your choice of local treatments Good luck Sue

      Hi Cynthia,

I use eperderm religiously and it really helps when I get sores down below. My flare up begun on Thursday and I've used eperderm, dumovate, and e45 cream religiously since - every time after the toilet, anytime it's a bit sore, and the sores have gone. I do have a new little spot in a different area now but Atleast the painful sores which were making peeing sore are gone! Xx

I just had a change in urine in the past week. Suddenly it is very strong. I know I am not drinking enough water, but I will try to drink more. I have low blood sugar, therefore I do eat more meat protein than anything else. You certainly know a lot about body chemistry. Are you in the medical field?I appreciate so much the education, and am convinced that my vaginal PH suffered as a result of specific life changes.  Thank you , Cynthia

Normally you go to your gp and request a private apt with the consultant of your choice, then you contact the insurers to ensure your choice is on their approved list when they  agree they will take you thro the process...it isn't difficult good luck
