I had my RH done 24th April and I regret every minute of it as I have been ill with lung infection which then turned into Pluresy I have had back pain since my op and can't seem to get rid of it

I had to get sleeping tablets to help me sleep which I had no probs before op.I still get pain in my groin and down front of my leg from grion to knee.If I do some housework I get so exhausted and sore.Went to see surgeon last week when I got there he could not see me as he was in theatre so need to go back 29th Aug which will be 4 mths since my op.I have lost 1 stone in weight since all this and nobody seems to find out what is going on.Cant wait to be back to my old self again. I was a strong healthy person except for arthritis in my hip now I am sick and no energy and in pain still.Regret getting it done .

Hi Renee I'm so sorry that your hip replacement didn't achieve the outcome yet that you hoped for.

It could of course just be a coincidence that you ended up with pleurasy but it's probably more likely it was the anesthetic, did you have a general or spinal, do you mind me asking your age and did you smoke, I don't think you did as you say you where healthy before.

Im so sorry.  I feel your pain as I am 12 weeks now and I hurt a little more this week than I have in the past weeks.  I have a pain that goes from back of my hip down front of leg to top of my foot.  Not while standing, mostly just sitting or driving in a car.  Its unbearable and surgeon didnt seem to think it was a concern at this time.  I am not willing ot livew with this as it makes being in a vehicle extremely uncomfortable.  I was also extremely athletic and active and now I am down to walking on a treadmill, and gym work doing what PT had shown me to do.  Cant get on my bucycle or my horse to do what I enjoy yet.  Very frustrating and I question everyday if I made the right decision, even though I was bone on bone with arthitus but pain wasnt horrible yet,  Hoping we both recover soon and finally can say it was worth it!!

So sorry to hear that you have had problems following your hip surgery. What approach and how experienced was the surgeon? I suggest that you have your back checked out by a good chiropractor.

    Good luck.. Richard

    Hi Reene,

I am glad you have come back on as I was worried about you in case you had blood clots in the lungs with the pain you had. I am so pleased you never had clots.

I had my op 2 weeks before you, when I do too much I get a pain in the groin and knee, sleep is also irregular. I hope your hip settles down soon and you can start to feel better.
