A year and a half ago I began getting pain in the ball of my foot and sometimes a weird feeling in my big toe on both feet. I went to the podiatrist who over the course of 8 months gave me 2 cortisone injections, which helped for a short period of time. I continued on with my normal activities, which general require a lot of running and jumping. About 4 months ago the ball of my foot was hurting along with every single toe on both feet and there was noticeable swelling. It felt like i was walking on glass/knives etc. this pain also happened in the arch of my foot. That pain has subsided, but I still have pain in the ball of my foot. I also i have a weird crumpled up sock feeling in between the third and 4th toe on my right foot. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in feet. He had me take an MRI of my right foot. The MRI came back completely normal saying i have no neuroma. The Dr. did a cortisone injection near my heel by the Plantar fasciit. He also suggested doing physical therapy, which I have started they are working on areas by my calves to relieve pain in my feet.
My question is it seems like I am having symptoms of Mortons Neuroma, but the MRI says my foot is fine. What is going on with my feet?

For what it's worth, I found a 2019 medical research paper on Morton's Neuroma, that said that MRI scans miss about 17% of the neuromas.
So I guess there's a chance you have Morton's Neuroma.
If you do, it looks to me (I'm not a medical professional) like you are getting about the same treatment you would get if you had it.
Foot pads, arch supports, more comfortable shoes, steroid injections, rest.
Do you have the feeling that there is a small pebble in your shoe?
Hey, I think I might have had Morton's Neuroma a couple years ago.
I had the sensation of a small pebble in my shoe in the ball of my foot, every time I jogged. and the spot was a little painful and mega annoying. I was convinced it was in my running shoe but couldn't find anything even after ripping out the insides.
I splurged and bought a top of the line shoe. but the feeling and pain were still there.
Finally went to my primary care doctor, don't think he said what it was, but the conservative management treatment he prescribed worked for me.
Hope things work out for you.
