Rust Color in Semen

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had a prostate biopsy 7 weeks ago. Everything came back benign. Had a little blood in urine for a day or so and that has cleared up. My question is I still see some rust color in semen, not bright red. I had read that could be expected for up to 6 weeks but I am 7 weeks now and still see it. I don't think there is as much as I did at first. Should I be concerned or does it take time for all the old blood to get cleared out of the prostate? More ejaculations clear it out faster? Hope someone else has had this experience. Thanks in advance.

After my prostate biopsy I was told to drink at least twice the volume of water and other beverages I normally drink in order to flush out blood and other stuff from the bladder. It worked for me.

Keep coffee and tea to a minimum as they may irritate the bladder.

Thanks. I did all the drinking extra water and bladder cleared up quickly. Just the semen I was still concerned with. I knew it would take longer to clear up from what I read.

Good news about your biopsy result! I don't think you need worry about the rust colour in your semen. Mine took a few weeks to clear and I did ejaculate more often as well.

Good news. Finally semen today was clear of any blood. it took a full 8 weeks. I found on the VA website they said could take up to 2 months. Hope this helps someone else not to feel as anxious as I was feeling. Thanks again to everyone for your responses.
