I've lived with ME for 28 years and am very thankful that I can function albeit on a fairly basic level and my heart goes out to those of you who are house or bed bound. One thing has always puzzled me. My pre cursor to periods of feeling really unwell, as opposed to the usual cycle of trying to do something 'normal' and then being wiped out for a while, is the combination of gut wipeout (diarrhoea!) and specific knee pain. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this as I don't get the link!

I find virus infections often lead to a major crash in my condition, with prolonged recovery time. Could your diarrhoea and knee pain be caused by a virus?

Thank you pixie. That's the one thought I've had about it. You may well be right

Mine is directly related to getting the flu, I came down with the flu in January of this year and I had another relapse,it has been 7 months and I am having trouble walking and don't feel well, I think the first time was when I was 17, I was admitted to the hospital for one week but they couldn't figure out what the problem was,it happened again when I was 18,the doctor thought it was mono but the tests came back negative it took me about 6 months to recover, then when I was 21for about 3 months, the really bad problems started when I was 42,I did get so bad I was walking with two canes by the time I was 45, I think the flu shot might of had something to do with that,I did totally recover around 2007 just before my 50th birthday as mention above I have had two relapses since then directly related to the flu
