Sacrocolpopexy

Hi, hope someone out there can advise. I’ve just got date for a sacrocolpopexy operation ( vaginal vault easier to say!) in a fortnight’s time and, assuming it’s not cancelled at the last minute I’d love to hear from anyone who has undergone this op.
A bit of background info:
I had a hysterectomy, posterior and anterior repairs , done vaginaly, in Feb. 2016. My recovery was unbelievably painfree and I felt great straightaway. Perhaps I did too much too soon, for after 5 months the dreaded bulging was back. I was very disillusioned and waited ages before seeking help.
Last year I found a superb urogynacologist who diagnosed vaginal vault...my own GP had assumed it was a posterior prolapse again.
I was put on her waiting list and ended up with a date for late last October. Cancelled due to lack of bed.
In the meantime I’ve had a pessary, and while it helps, I still have difficulty passing a motion. Sometimes I’m on the loo up to 5 times a day and can sense my rectum is worse than it was. When I lie down I feel absolutely normal, but standing or walking too far can be most uncomfortable.
Has anyone experienced that with a vaginal vault?
Also has anyone had this operation done via the abdomen? My urogynae says it will provide a better result. Mesh will not be used....my ligaments will! Think I’ve remembered that correctly!
Finally, I know all about no lifting, taking it easy, etc etc, but not the level of pain to expect...and I’m a complete woose!
Finally finally, when is flying possible? I’ve had to cancel a holiday and keen to get away afterwards.
Sorry for lengthy post, but any suggestion or info will be very welcome.
Good luck to all recuperating girls / ladies out there.

Hi Tatsl
I am 16d out from A&P with TOTs sling repair - so didn’t have the vaginal vault abdominal route you are asking about. However, from reading COUNTLESS forum posts since learning about needing my sgy and then having it - it seems as though most of the women complain of “pain in their buttocks” and from the answers they receive from their MDs that it is related to where they secure the ligament internally during the operation.
I cannot imagine going through what I have and then like you needing a vault repair a short time later! I wish you all the best and hope this helps to stir up some activity from women who have experienced this same sgy.
Wishing you all the best!

Thanks for replying. Only 4 days now to admission and feeling more apprehensive than before operation in 2016!
Interesting to know most afterpain will be in buttocks....at least I won’t be taken by surprise!
Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to do the daily exercises to strengthen my core and alleviate lower back pain so no doubt I’ll have nagging pain there too! The joys of being a woman!
Good luck with your recuperation and hope you remember to take it easy, even when you do feel you’re over the worst. 😉
