sacroiliac pain

So I suddenly developed acute sacroiliac pain. Serious pain at top left rear of hip. Over the past five or six days, it has almost disappeared, but has turned into uncomfortable left leg pain. All the way up and down the leg. This too shall pass, I believe.
But I find myself wondering. What is actually causing the pain? The sacroiliac joint itself is mostly cartilage, and cartilage doesn't have nerves. I gather that inflammation can be an issue, but again, where exactly is the pain coming from? Also, how does that condition manifest itself lower down in the leg?

Dan back pain can be managed with a good doctor, physical therapy and time. Sleep on your back with your legs raised is important to keep the back straight. this is the beginning of managing back pain . It could be a lot of swelling ,apply ice to the area and anti inflammatories. With pain down the leg it could be a pinched nerve in the lower back called sciatica. See a doctor who can take xrays and offer the best treatment for the injury to your back.

Thank you. Not really back pain. It's upper rear hip, left side. That's the hallmark of sacroiliac injury. That pain is now mostly gone, and it has moved into my left leg. I believe this is understood with sacroiliac pain, but I have no idea how it makes the leg ache seriously, especially when not moving around. I assume that too will go away in time.

Looks like we're talking sacroiliitis. I need to get myself an orthopedist.
