Saliva producing meds?

My saliva production is declining. I also have started having sinus problems due to dryness. I have heard mention of saliva producing meds on here. My rheumatologist has not offered me this. Are the side effects that bad? I have heard mixed reviews. Lack of saliva causes so many other issues and causes need for other meds- antibiotics, etc.  so my question- can anyone who has taken them offer feedback. And do they help with nasal/ sinus dryness?

    I have had thrush from dry mouth for 2mos. My meds haven't really changed for at least a yr. Biotin helps with dry mouth doesn't cause any problems with sinus area

    I have had my  ENT Dr and Rhuemo Dr tell me because my blood work neg can't be Sjogren's Syndrome. I went to my GP He said sounds like SS.  My Rhuemo Dr wants me to have Bone Marrow test. My GP doesn't know why. Either do I. I see the oncologist on Thursday.  Anyway now my tongue burns today which is new today. I had a liitle feeling like my tongue was burned but didn't eat any thing hot.  It is bad right now don't know what to do about the saliva feeling thich salty taste and now burning bad. Any suggestions what to use?.

      I am not sure. I would say eat and drink whatever is comfortable now. I would try to get in with md again to see if it’s something that should be treated in respect to tongue symptoms.

      Ask you PCP for magic mouthwash, it reliefed my tongue issue after I used it.

    With this thick mucus and burning tongue right now I was thinking of asking for a culture of the mucus Has anyone had a mucus culture??

      Sorry Also how did you do the culture. I don't want to spit it isn't in my lung Shout it be just inside mouth

      Hi Diana, 

      I was trying to private message you.  I would think it would be similar to doing a throat culture for strep. Are you ok?  If you can work out the private message thing- I am able to respond. Just having a hard time initiating it.

      No strep throat no pain in throat When I wake up in morning mouth so dry  Then I put my tongue in front of inside my mouth bottom and top and saliva produces  right away very thick mucus I do that all day It seems in the evening my tongue burns now so much.  I called my GP today to have a culture of the mucus. My tongue burns so bad worse then burning it with something hot all day.  I am going to Oncologist tomorrow I hope he can do it or on have to wait till Monday.  I am so tired of Dr's telling me all my blood work is normal   when I have something wrong and it is getting worse. I don't know what it can be. I had dry mouth for 3 months then developed thrush rinsed mouth with Nystatin  TID then I developed this I will see about private message not good with comps
