Same boat here! Disappointed

5th metatarsal stress fracture, it's been 10 weeks in cam boot and crutches, the dr took the conservative approach NBW for 9 weeks but I am very dissapointed because looks that it's not progressing so I am thinking to opt for surgery.

Take a Xray first, then make your decision. Cause if you find out its healing or its like 50% healed, you're better off waiting it out :\

I had surgery 8 weeks ago. I rushed into it because my primary doctor said if i was going to have surgery I should have it within the first week. Otherwise, better to wait it out. After 10 days the healing should have started, so at 10 weeks you are well on your way. You might need surgery in a few months if there is non-union, and I might need surgery if the hardware bothers me - so either way we are sort of in the same boat. The only benefit to having surgery early is that I was only NWB for 5 1/2 weeks and I am now able to do everything except high impact exercise. The negative is that is cost $$$.

You are totally right! Finally today after 10 weeks in the X-rays shows callous right in the middle, the kind of fracture is neck spiral fracture and is my right foot so can't be able to drive, and I have 2 small kids, also I run at least 20 miles a weeks so this very frustrating for me.

Glad to hear you are finally seeing some improvement! I understand your pain! Mine was very displaced at the neck (4-5mm). I have one small child and we have a small farm in our backyard (for our own household, not for selling), so NWB was very difficult for me.
