Same problem..... new surgery

Hi all. It's me again. I had to have revision surgery on left knee on March 2nd. Started PT 1 day after getting out of hospital. Dr. discharged me with strict instructions to not put CPM over 30 degrees for 1 week. After that, slowly start moving it up. Trying to help keep scar tissue to a minimum. I went for my 2 week check up yesterday (3/15) and he was upset that my bend was only at 45. He is giving me 1 week to get to 100. I wasn't even at 100 before original tkr in October. The knee still doesn't really want to bend. PT isn't really sure what the Dr. wants from me anymore than I do. I am truly at my wits end. Any suggestions?

Crikey Debbie! I don't quite know what to suggest, but after the surgeon saying NOT to set the CPM over 30 for the 1st week, what does he expect! If your physio doesn't know either where does that leave you ??

The only thing I can say is keep doing the exercises as best you can & ICE, try to get the swelling down.

Trouble is you've now had 2 major ops in 5 months on the same knee, you are gonna be swollen!

Why did he do the revision? What reason did he give for the necessity?

I think it's unrealistic to expect 100 in another week. Esp as you hadn't achieved that BEFORE the revision! What does your physio say about that diktat?

Once you are able to withstand a proper massage i.e. incision scar healed over, go to a sports injury person, have a proper massage & try to get some of the inner scar tissue reduced! You will have to go a few times but if it works so worth it!

I'd still like to know why he did a revision at 5 months. MUA I would understand.
