Sandrena Gel - so confused????

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am so confused about my HRT. After having an early hysterectomy I have tried Tibilone, a oral HRT & also patches. None of which suited me. I am now trying the gel. It's early days but I am having terrible flushes still (dose upped to 1,5) and feel very depressed. Any advice from anyone? Thank you

Hi. I know its difficult but ive been told you need to persevere with it for 6-8 weeks to start seeing a difference. It also depends on your age as the younger you are the more you'll need depending on how low your natural hormones dropped. I had ovaries removed nearly 2 weeks ago so have nothing naturally and have to be on tibilone for 6 months before I can change to standard hrt because of my condition. Each time you change your body has to adapt so hopefully the gel will start working for you soon. Good luck

Hi there, I had an early hysterectomy too, I was put on Tibilone, was on it for many years. I felt it worked for me, but only recently I have had the hrt changed to oestrogen only. The side effects I experienced, were nauseau, headaches bloating , abdominal pain. So I changed again after 6 weeks to another hrt. I have been told I need to stay on the hrt for another 5 years, they stopped prescibing me any more tibolone. I am 49. This new hrt feels no different to me than the tibolone-so to me it must suit me. I was interested to find out some details of the lady care magnet for menapause and its benefits. I was looking at getting more information on this, when I was having problems taking the new hrt at the time.

    Hello Louisa

I really sympathise with you as when I started trying all sorts of HRT for my hot flushes which I counted and I endured 30 in 24 hour period for a few minutes,  for a period of 2 months it took about 4 differents brands.  In the end the one that really worked for me was Premia 2.5 Continous, it sounds horrible but an ingredient is horses urine.  Being on them for a 3and half years my hot flushs returned about 20% and it was interferring with my sleep.  I researched the Web and read about Effexor which is classified as an antipresant but is also you for hot flushes.  1 Tab a day of HRT and 1 Tab of Effexor.  It worked wonders.

I am 56 and have just being diagonised as  being post menopause with is great, so currently I am being weened of all medication which should be done over a six month to 1 year.  Hope this gives you some hope.

    Good luck and best wishes

Thank you everyone for your advice. Yes I had a total hysterectomy at 38, including my ovaries, and almost a year on am still struggling with my HRT. Yes I will persevere with the gel and see what happens, my main problem is the enormous mood swings that I seem to encounter. I feel very low some days, for absolutely no reason, is this normal?? The hot flushes go without saying, they are totally hideous but I hope they will subside in time.

I find some days are worse than others which is a little confusing. I like things to be consistent... the menopause is not one of those things! Any other general advice wound be gratefully received. I'm really glad I found this forum

Hi. If symptoms don't clear once higher dose in your body then go back to dr as at our age with no ovaries we should be replacing what we should have had not topping up a little bit to make things easier. Reduced doses shouldn't be until we reach menopause age unless theres a medical reason why not. Really hope it gets sorted xx

    Hi Louisa.

At CEMCOR's website you have more information but I believe that you could add some natural progesterone (not "progestins")  to your HRT programme without a problem. Natural progesterone helps regulate hot flushes too.

Are you rotatting tighs, arms? It's best to do so.

Also consider having some extra strenght anti-stress Vitamins like B5 + C+ B12.

    Take care. Teresa.
