Scab On Tip Of Penis ... STD, Herpes, or Irritation

Posted , 11 users are following.

The past four days I've experienced some swelling on the left side of the tip of my penis. It itches a little in the beginning but nothing extreme. No pain when I'm peeing. I now have this bump / scab. It doesn't hurt and I wouldn't even know it was there if it wasn't visible.

Is this herpes or could it be an injury from masterbating without lube or some other STD?

I went to get tested Thursday but I'm not able to see a doctor until Wednesday. Freaking out.

Oh, this is a much clearer photo! What did the doctor say on Thursday, and what were you tested for (and how)? Only herpes? Sorry if I already asked you these questions before!

It does look a little suspect in this photo, but then it doesn't hurt, not even with urine passing right over it, which is unusual for herpes. In case there is little left to see on Wednesday, show your doctor this pic and test for IgG at 3+ months as previously noted. Bit hard to say anything more than that.

I was just tested for STDs and HIV. Unfortunately, they weren't able to get me into the doctor to look at it. Trust me, I tried my best to get someone to look at it. Due to funds, I'm having to go to the LGBT center.

It does not hurt when I pee. It tends to be more noticeable when wet, like after peeing or after a shower (this photo was after a shower).

This is the first time I've ever noticed anything and from what I'm reading online the first flare up should cause multiple symptoms, right? I honestly don't feel anything unless I start poking at it but I've been trying my best not to look or mess with it. I have started putting Lotrimin on it in case it is a fungal infection. Not sure if this is the right thing to do or not but I don't really know what else to do at the moment.

Is there any chance this could just be some type of infection or irritation? I know you're not a doctor but I'm very concerned and Wednesday feels like forever away.

Of course it could be either of those things. There have been times when someone had what looked or sounded like herpes, only for it to be something else. A first outbreak would normally be more than just a single painless lesion, so there's hope that it's something else for you, too.

How are your lymph nodes in your groin, incidentally? Keep an eye on that. If they swell and feel tender, that's a sign of a genital (or lower body) infection of some sort. Herpes often results in that, even when other symptoms are mild.

I think my lymph nodes are fine. Would there be pain? I'm not feeling anything .. but I could also be checking wrong.

If you dig around your upper thigh, right where it joins your body, you should feel a couple of pea-sized nodes somewhat below the surface on each side. They should not hurt to poke. If there is an infection, they will be larger than pea-sized and feel tender. There may be a delayed effect of a few days between first symptoms to swollen nodes. If it's all normal and remains that way, that's another good sign, albeit not definitive.
