Scalp acupuncture with EMG (electro-myography)

Hello everybody!

I am from Germany and recently had diagnostic with EMG (electro-myography). I have done it before and familiar with such diagnostics. But this time the nurse, who was making the procedure said the necessity of scalp acupuncture (injected 3 needles in head in different places). While injecting I felt pain in upper jaw, near eye and in places of injection. After 2-3 minutes I felt dizzy and the nurse took out the needles. Also there was a little amount of blood in the places of injection. After 5 minutes I felt normal and results of EMG was fine.

So the question: Is it normal and widely used procedure in neurology? I searched in internet about making EMG with scalp acupuncture and did not found anything. I felt like experimental rat after all.
