Scapula and shoulder problems

Hi

In the past I have had a frozen left shoulder and thankfully managed to get full range of movement back.

My left shoulder tends to be a bit of a problem over the years, decades of weight training probably hasn't helped.

Over the last three months or so I do have some issues when raising my left arm and doing things with it from that elevated position. The pain, strangely enough, can be a little on the shoulder joint but mainly on the side deltoid. That can be bad.

But mainly the massive amount of pain seems to be on my left scapula. The scapula area seems to be very sensitive and the spasm type pains can be bad.

I have seen a shoulder specialist and he noticed that my left scapula is winged. Perhaps the Long Thoracic Nerve being a problem.

Also if you stand with your back to a wall and try and "put your hands up" (like someone points a gun at you) I can touch the wall with my right arm and hand by leaning it back but no way can I do that with my left, it simply will not go back that far to the wall as it is very tight and very painful to try.

A couple of days ago I had a 1 hour 45 mins MRI scan, they did my C and T section of spine and my shoulder and then an attachment was added to the scanner to do my scapula area.

I will see my specialist again this coming Monday.

Some Nerve conduction studies have been arranged.

I have stopped any movement type exercises which are designed to help a winged scapula as the pain is pretty bad. I'll wait until I see my specialist to see what is going on. They could be making things worse.

Has anyone had their scapula cause pain and tenderness related to a shoulder problem.?

I know that the pain felt on my side deltoid can be minimised if I reduce the arm movements. The pain around my scapula isn't as easy to manage.

Thanks
