scar

Hi everyone,

sorry not been on in a while , but I've been busy getting back into my singing , anyway I hope you are all doing fine, as for me I'm doing great as far as my new hip goes, but I'm concerned about my scar, I'm 9 weeks post opp on tuesday, and the problem is, it's still very red and sore, it's healed there is no oozing or anything, my gp looked at it last week and said the scar was pulling a bit as it was healing, but nothing to worry about.

Last night i did a 4 hour gig, which mean't standing for at least 2/3 hours in total I felt great, but today, I looked at my scar and it's so red and angry looking, also in the separate little dot of a scar where the insert the guide rod during the opp, it seems to have a small yellow dot in the middle rather like a blackhead, so I'm sitting here with ice packs and have put arnica gel on ( my gp recamended it) I just wondered has anyone else had this, as my first opp. scar was fine at 9 weeks.

thanks for any tips.

Lynne

    Hi Lynne

Sorry you are going through this. It sounds to me like you may have an infection

Is it hot to the touch ? It could be something wrong inside.. Are you due to go back to clinic or have you been discharged now ? Just to err on the side of caution I personally would phone your surgeons secretary as soon as you can and ask if you can go to the next clinic. Explain the situation and ask the nurses and your surgeon can have a look because your worried and in a lot of pain. If it is an infection or anything else it is better to get it checked out quick incase it is something that needs looking at and get it treated quickly. your GP may not be the best person in this case to get help from. Hope you get it sorted out A S A P

      Hi Hailia,

thanks so much for that, it is warm to the touch, but it's completely healed over, just sore like a mild burning sensation, and because i never had this with my first opp. I'm concerned, so I will take your advice and call the surgeon tomorrow, as my clinic appt. is not untill oct. 21st.

    Hi Lynne,

long time no hear from you - delighted music is happening again for you!

Yea, as other say, prob not serious, but check our scar with nurse/GP: I put AVON SOS on mine; others swear by nothing, bio oil, granny's old recipe, etc!!

    warm hugs

    Dear Lynne -

Good to see you back ... well, not really - I have been thinking of you and wondered how you are doing ...

so happy that you are back to doing your music, but sorry for the scar wanting attention ...

Just asking, did you go back to singing after first THR?  and also, what were you wearing ... rough material might have rubbed on scar - I am still not wearing jeans because of that - scar (s) too sensitive ... standing and swinging darling , I am sure cheesygrin

    take care -

    warm big hug

The yellow bit sounds like it good be a bit of pus from an infection. Keep an eye on it, and go back to your GP if it gets any worse
