    Hi Sandra,

Yes I have had little niggles in the scar area at the top end and I am 11 weeks too. It's a sharp needling pain very quick and soon over, I have just put it down to healing process and I have just had a full on 2 days and not been massaging my scar with bioil. Have started with pain in my groin and in the actual hip area again, I think I've just overdone it and need a bit of rest - very frustrating though.  I can offer no advice though other than try massaging or maybe try hot and cold compress and see if either works.  If it's hot or swollen I would seek medical advice.

Suzie many thanks for your reply - my goodness I am a mirror image of what you have put in your reply. I too have pain in my groin and have over done things and had to see my doctor in the week who is now sending me for physio.  I say thank goodness for this forum otherwise you could be sat there worrying yourself silly.  I will try the compress etc and see if that works.  Many thanks again xx

Gosh what a coincidence I have a referral for physio too.  Had the one after op and he dismissed my back pain, suppose he was only paid to do the hip. My posture is good but my back is not coping with the big change.

Again what a coincidence I have pain in my back as well.  Close to where I had the injection for the epidural.  Putting this down to the change and getting muscles etc back working again.  Yes my posture is also good.  My daughter said yesterday how good it was to see me not limping again and back to normal.

    Hi Sandra,

Is it a constant pain or stabs ? I think it is  part of the healing process too and might be present for a while, on and off -

After my 1st THR,  scar tissue was forming underneath the scar, pulling and painful ... PT massaged it "loose"  and told me to do the same -

scar was closed and dry ....

    how are you doing otherwise?

    big warm hug

Hi Renee hopfully you will have seen my reply to Suzie who has exactly the same symptons as me including the groin pain.  I can only put this down to over doing things.  trouble is you think you are fit enough to clean the freezer getting down on your knees then you find out you are not.  Apart from that I am so very much better than I was I have no regrets at having the the replacement hip that is for sure. Thank you for your hugs and the same back to you xxx - oh and as I say thank goodness for this forum

    Hi Sandra.

I had my op 11th april so similar to you.

Yes i have found that in scar it gets burning/itchy/stabby.

Sometimes for no apparent reason it just gives one short sharp eye watering pain then goes.

I too have found my back aching as i do more yet overall the hip/groin pain is gone.(do have DDD).

My knees however are now a concern too...before op i would squat rather than bend down to save my spine. Now tho my knees, especially op leg just feel like popping if i try this.

    Any suggestions or similarities????

Weirdly I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, and since my hip op 3 weeks ago, I have been aware of my hysterectomy scar. - I was wondering if it was just heightened nerve sensitivity ?  My hip scar is amazing at the moment - how does it heal so quickly?

    Hi Sandra

I am 25 weeks  and I get a stinging  pain every once in a whille,I think the weather has  a lot to do with it damp humid. the old hot water bottle is great,i dont like the pain killers but i got a ointment in the pharmacy Diprobase over the counter its great on the scar, and i use it on the other scars on my face from acccident it is brilliant and my Wife also uses it on her feet,

Sometimes i get pain in thigh ,one day when i was out all of a sudden  my whole tigh went dead i could not lift my leg my wife drove me home and i hit the bed for a few hours ,when i woke the pain was all but gone..hope this helps

Thanks for your reply most helpful.  Gave the scar a good massage yesterday and today there is no pain. But I will certainly look into the Diprobase.  Many thanks again.

Oh like someone is jabbing a needle into it?

    Yes

I just massaged it with Bio Oil a bit more to desensitize it.

Harry Potter related? He who shall not be named nearby causing the scar to flare?  Just a guess.  Hope things are better and please don't mis read my light hearted attempt at looking at an alternative explanation.
