    Hi Hopetogroove,

sorry to hear about your problem, I think you should have waited another 2 weeks before driving, do you have a stick shift or auto? in any case we all get this soreness on our scars, and the numbness, try an ice pack you will find it works like magic biggrin

    Hi Hopetogroove

I have just had clearance to drive at 5 weeks, but I cannot say I feel totally comfortable about doing so. I am just starting to walk for part of the day with no crutches and I still get discomfort in the joint  because as my surgeon says - the pelvis has to realign itself. My operated leg was 7cms shorter than the other preop so has now been lengthened back to normal. It really is like learning to walk again, so I am just a bit concerned about pressing pedals and putting pressure on the joint. Certainly would only be looking for short distances to start with. I think 4 weeks is a bit early but only my opinion from how I am feeling.

Are you using any Bio Oil or moisuriser on your scar - it does help to aleviate tightness, although sitting as a passenger for any length of time in the car does feel uncomfortable. Mine is more the 'mobile phone in pocket' syndrome more than pain in incision site though - not really had much of an issue with soreness.

My hospital actually monitors how the incision is healing - they rang me up to check today. May be you could check with your hospital or your GP if you have concerns

    Best wishes Linda xx

I'm 12 weeks and scar is still a bit tender and numb in places. It has been improving but slowly - I still can't sleep on the operated side.

      Hi Anne

I had this problem for a long time too - I mentioned to a physio and she gave me really good massage and broke down all the scar tissue. After 3 sessions over 3 weeks I was COMPLETELY sorted out - and that was after being patient for 6 months. Definitely worth considering xxx

That's interesting to know - thanks. I thought I might be suffering because I'm quite thin and there is not a lot of muscle/fat between the implant and the skin so lying on it I don't have much padding!

I am slim but not skinny and have seen I keloid scar a bit.  I was dumbfounded by the difference.

As for the placement of the  implant - it is about as deep in your body as anything can be without popping out the other side smile

      Hope it settles soon x

Me too - I don't think mine is a keloid scar it is only very slightly raised and has not spread past the incision. I can feel the bone moving though if I presson the skin there and raise the knee!

Hi Christine - I saw my physical therapist today and mentioned the pain around my scar -- she started to massage it and whoa, that was not pleasant --- apparently there is some sticking involved and she will loosen it with massage the next time I see her -

thank you, your post helped me to speak up and tell her about it !

      warm hug and good night

    Your scar will feel sore.

You shouldn't drive your car til 6 weeks post op.

Place ice over scar with towel for ten minutes.

You need to rest your operated leg.

I'm one year post op and feeling great. But it's journey was not an easy one.

Slow down, rest and use ice daily for ten minutes. Exercise with caution. Consult with your physician.

Wish you the best in your recovery. It takes time will not happen overnight.

    Hello,

I am 3 weeks and scar still sore. I saw the physio who showed me how to massage scar to help reduce sensitivity and improve flexibility as it heals. I looked it up and there are you tube recordings on how to do this.
