Scar Tissue

I am 8 weeks out from my surgery, Total hip replacement left side. Surgery went perfect scar is very tiny along my panty line so doesn't show in a swimsuit even.  I am walking without any aids and any pain. I feel better every single day and no pain killers.

The one thing that I didn't read about or know about is the scar tissue. Where the incision was it was like a brick it was so hard. About the size of your fist. I was having trouble walking and it was because of this. I started massaging the incision area and finally it went soft after I fell asleep on that side..once that went soft I woke up walking...it is great!!!

    I a m doing great after the surgery also. I get the same feeling where my scar is. Sometimes it's gets hard as a rock and then softens back up. I figure it will just keep improving and it is. I notice if my panty seam presses on it all day that is when it happens.

      I feel pretty blessed that I have had no complications and this went so well...thinking the dr I had is a big part of why I did so well.He worked with Mary Lou Retton's dr and is just awesome!!  I am still massaging the incision area and it is still staying soft and since it is staying soft I am walking without any problems..no aids at all and best part is no limp and no pain!!!  Glad you are doing so well...keep massaging it so it stays soft.It is only tissue that has to pretty much spread out..doesn't go anywhere but it is sort of absorbed by the body I guess...whatever reason I know if I keep massaging it I feel better and for sure walk better!

      I had a great surgeon aldo the surgeon of the surgeons in my area. It's been absolutely amazing. Ice needed no walking aids only when I left the hospital I had the walker

      I used it for about a week until the physical therapist said you don't need that and the dr said walk on your own it been a great experience. I feel so blessed!

    Dear So u re enjoing ur new hip am glad

    My phsio showed me how to masage it & me also it went soft

    I am 3wks post op now and my incision area is the same 'hard as a rock' at what stage can i start massaging it and how do i do it properly?
